Larry Birkhead is Dannielynn’s Daddy

Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Reality, Features, Gossip, News,
When Anna Nicole Smith left the party called life on February 8, 2007, she left behind a legacy of questions, court battles, and the most famous infant since the Lindbergh baby. It took many days before she could be buried, weeks longer to determine how she died, and it wasn’t until Tuesday, April 10, 2007 that the world knew who fathered Anna Nicole’s child. Howard K. Stern, longtime friend, companion, and lawyer to Anna Nicole Smith has claimed parentage from the start. His claim seemed to be supported by a Bahamas birth certificate stating Stern as the father, a certificate that was dismissed in court because signatures were not properly placed. But Stern’s claims were disputed, even before the death of Anna Nicole Smith, by her ex-boyfriend Larry Birkhead. After her death, Prince Fredric Von Anhalt also came forward claiming responsibility, while Anna’s mother Virgie Hogan Hart made custody claims and overtures. Hugh Heffner, famous Playboy founder, came forward to state he was certainly not the father of Dannielynn – no DNA testing for Heff. But, now the Bahamas court has ruled, and there can be no denying who Dannielynn’s daddy is. All parties can, however, still fight over custody.

Cuddly toys, DVDs, story books, blankets, towels, clothing…well, the list goes on and on when it’s time to consider Pooh Bear merchandise. The honey-crazy bear has lit up TV screens and movie marquees for years and years, but it’s his court battle that’s grabbing all the headlines now. Would you have the courage to sue Winnie the Pooh? The Slesinger family does, and has battled the Disney Company for several years for rights to Pooh-related royalties. The family claims that Disney violated copyright and trademark agreements, among other disputes, and seeks up to two billion dollars in back royalties as compensation for Disney’s oversight. That could certainly buy a whole lot of honey, which thankfully never, ever spoils. The battle has raged since 1991, when Stephen Slesinger, Inc. filed a lawsuit against the company concerning Winnie’s merchandised assets. Disney is maneuvering to cancel and delay talks, creating even more drama around the case, and the Slesingers are publicly upset. Reportedly, Disney grosses six billion dollars a year from Pooh Bear and all his related merchandise.

Idol-izing Sanjaya

Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Music, Prime Time, Reality, FOX, American Idol, Gossip,
Two distinct camps have formed around the American Idol 6 season: those for, and those against a single singer. From his changing hair styles to his weird wardrobe choices and continuing lackluster singing, Sanjaya is a hit on the Idol stage. The big question now is…why? Currently, he is the most searched for and sought-after Idol to grace the stage - ever. According to search engine reports, it’s Sanjaya’s name that keeps coming up again and again, even more often than past American Idol winners. Simon Cowell has publicly gone on record to claim he’ll leave the show if Malakar wins, and Sanjaya’s harshest critics have been calling for him to get the boot for weeks now. Meanwhile, singing sensations like Stephanie Edwards, Chris Sligh, and Gina Glocksen have been sent home…and Sanjaya lives to butcher another song. When it comes to Sanjaya, people either love him or hate him, and all have their own reasons. Some of his biggest supporters are championing Sanjaya for a very specific reason: the ruination of the show. Others that love him are true fans (read: young girls). But those that hate him do so with tenacity. Even media criticism hasn’t been enough to sway votes out of his favor. It seems Sanjaya has true Idol staying power…go figure.

Whitney Houston Wins Custody of Bobbi Christina

Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Reality, Gossip, News,
An Orange County judge ruled in favor of 43-year-old Whitney Houston this week in the custody battle between her and estranged hubby Bobby Brown (38). The couple’s only offspring, fourteen-year-old Bobbi Christina will stay with her mother, who was reportedly visibly upset and in tears during the hearing. A prenuptial agreement left all financial matters neatly settled between the pair, giving them nothing to fight about but their one shared asset: their child. Now, even that is all said and done, and the couple will officially be free of each other on April 24, 2007. For now, Houston will hold sole custody of young Bobbi. The only other choice for childcare was Bobby Brown. Don’t blame the judge…a choice had to be made.

Chris Sligh His Own Worst Enemy?

Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Music, Prime Time, Reality, FOX, American Idol, Gossip, News,
Fans were drawn right away to his wry humor, fun hairstyle, and powerful vocals. So, where did it all go wrong? Should fans blame Simon Cowell, who roundly dissed Sligh’s last performance (just before he was voted off American Idol)? Was it because every song he sang on the Idol stage was a sappy-sweet lovelorn melodrama? Or was it Chris Sligh’s attitude that proved to be the catalyst that ended his American Idol career? Motivational experts seem to think so, though Sligh maintains the elimination is “no big deal.” The singer says his goal was to make the Idol top ten in order to participate in the summer tour. Goal achieved, and then it was time for Sligh to fly. Let’s hope the former Idol contestant adopts a new, much more positive attitude when it comes to his future successes.

Idol Voting Makes Tonight A Toss Up

Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Music, Prime Time, Reality, FOX, American Idol, Gossip,
No one could have predicted that Chris Sligh would find himself without enough votes to go on, but nothing has been more shocking to American Idol watchers than the perseverance of Sanjaya Malakar. During last night’s performance, Simon Cowell stated that he was going to try a different tactic with the popular contestant, and instead of bashing the kid’s pipes (as he’s routinely done), called the performance “incredible” in a voice filled with sarcasm. The favorite badboy judge of American Idol has publicly stated he will be tempted to leave the show if Malakar wins, a far-fetched idea that seems less impossible all the time. His changing hair styles, his growing showmanship, and his obviously female-oriented fan base could keep Sanjaya safe tonight. Meanwhile, Hayley Scarnato is sticking to her strategy of form-fitting clothing that shows off her best assets – none of which have anything to do with singing. When America votes for the contestants they like to look at, instead of the ones they want to hear, anyone could be going home later tonight.

Todd Bridges Death Rumors—Untrue!

Posted by Wendy Michaels Categories: Everybody Hates Chris, Gossip, Internet, Rumors,
Hot on the heels of Sinbad’s false death reports, another death rumor is circulating. This time, it’s about Diff’rent Strokes and Everybody Hates Chris actor Todd Bridges. While Bridges has had his fair share of troubles in the past, there is no truth to the current rumors. The news started to spread after a New York radio station reported on the death of a truck driver named Shawn Bridges, who made a documentary of his downward spiral from drug abuse. And then like wildfire, the misunderstood details spread and a web site reported that Todd Bridges had passed away due to drugs. Family members tried to reach Bridges and panicked when they couldn’t track him down—he was shopping and had his cell phone on silent, but they eventually connected and everyone was relieved to hear that he is still among the living.

The View Bumps Lindsay Lohan’s Mom

Posted by Wendy Michaels Categories: Daytime, Talk Shows, Syndication, Gossip, Rumors,
Yikes, is Rosie O’Donnell at it again? This time, Dina Lohan (Lindsay’s mom) was scheduled to be a guest on this morning’s The View, but Rosie put the kibosh on it. O’Donnell apparently is no fan of mama Lohan’s mothering skills. Of course, there was bound to be talk of little Linds, who just finished her rehab, and Dina’s image as a “party mom.” O’Donnell was outspoken (naturally) on Wednesday’s show about an interview that Dina had done with Harper’s Bazaar, in which she said “I’m not the party mom!” despite recounting club hopping outings with Lindsay. The producers took notice of O’Donnell’s criticisms and The View issued a statement saying, “Dina Lohan was booked to appear this morning on The View, but, at the discretion of the producers, the booking was canceled.” O’Donnell is adding to her list of enemies, for sure.

Jesse Metcalfe Enters Rehab

Posted by Wendy Michaels Categories: Drama, Prime Time, ABC, Desperate Housewives, Gossip, Rumors,
What is the deal with young Hollywood? I guess you can make an argument that celebs like Lindsay and Britney are at least getting help for their troubles. The next rehab candidate is former hottie gardener from Desperate Housewives, Jesse Metcalfe. According to reports, he started treatment at an undisclosed rehab facility on Monday to “deal with alcohol issues.” I guess the weekend tuckered him out—according to E! Online, Metcalfe was seen at four L.A. clubs on Saturday. He was also denied a hotel room at an L.A. hotel on Friday because of his drunken behavior. According to his rep, “He realized he had a problem and was anxious to deal with it immediately.” Of course, the rep also added the obligatory wish that he “hopes that the media will allow him the privacy to deal properly with his treatment.”

Posted by Wendy Michaels Categories: Music, Prime Time, Reality, Cable, Cable/Satellite, Gossip,
Former reality sweethearts Shanna Moakler and Travis Barker documented their love on their MTV series Meet the Barkers. Then the beauty queen and the rocker called it quits. Now it looks like they’re heading for a make-up. Moakler told People magazine, “I’m madly in love with my husband.” This comes on the heels of a 32nd birthday bash that Barker had for Moakler in Miami over the weekend. A party guest said, “They were really affectionate with each other all night long. They really looked loving and happy.” They were also seen together holding hands and kissing on the beach. Whether or not the couple will stick it out for the long haul remains to be seen. Barker filed for divorce last August.
