Britney Spears Confirms ‘X Factor’ Departure

Britney Spears has confirmed her X Factor departure. The "Toxic" singer quit her role as a mentor on the Fox show in order to focus on her music career and admitting watching the contestants perform every week helped her to make the decision to leave.
"I've made the very difficult decision not to return for another season. I had an incredible time doing the show and I love the other judges and I am so proud of my teens, but it's time for me to get back in the studio. Watching them all do their thing up on that stage every week made me miss performing so much! I can't wait to get back out there and do what I love most," she explained in a statement.
Meanwhile, it has been claimed Britney, 31, is in "serious talks" for a residency in Las Vegas. According to gossip website TMZ, "Britney and her people are talking about establishing residency for the singer in Sin City and are also in talks with one of the hotels to do a big, nightly show. Negotiations are with one of the Caesars group properties, and they have been wooing her for awhile. There is a lot of interest in Britney's camp over a Vegas move, and a lot of interest on the Vegas side of headlining a show."

Nicki Minaj: I Hope ‘Idol’ Contestants Flash Me

Nicki Minaj wants male contestants to flash her on American Idol. The fiery judge insists she will remember those who show off their bodies and was impressed when one eager contestant removed his shirt during the audition stage.
"[The best thing a contestant can do to impress me is] flash me. That would make me remember a person. One boy in particular took off his shirt and was trying to be all sexy," she said.
Nicki also credited her own dysfunctional childhood with giving her the drive to become a star. The "Starships" singer explained, "I dealt with a little bit of a dysfunctional household and my inspiration was if I can just make it out of this, I could help my family and that was my driving force and I've said it for my entire career, but it's the truth. Sometimes, if you attach your dreams to something bigger than you it's like it's impossible for you to ever stop, so my thing was always I've got to get my family out of this kind of life and at times when I thought about giving up, that's what kept me going."
American Idol premieres next week on Wednesday and Thursday at 8/7c on Fox.

Another X Factor judge has bit the dust.
Record producer and two-time X Factor panelist L.A. Reid has announced that he will not be joining the third season of the popular reality competition. "I have decided that I will not return to The X Factor next year... I have a company to run that I've kind of neglected," the CEO of Epic Records explained.
While he says that he'll only be saddened to leave "a little bit," he does have fond memories of working with the show's creator, Simon Cowell: "I love Simon. We have a great relationship. We have fun together, we talk, we laugh, we do bad things, we're friends."
Reid's departure marks the third judge to leave the show, after Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger exited after the first season. There's no word yet as to who might replace Reid's spot at the judging table.

Mariah Carey: “Nick Cannon Convinced Me to Join Idol”

Mariah Carey's husband convinced her to join the American Idol panel.
The "Hero" singer admitted she was initially wary of taking a role on the judging panel of the pop star search show but America's Got Talent host Nick Cannon talked her into it.
"He really wanted me to do this. I had my own kind of reservations about it because I didn't know how I would adapt to the situation. It's a huge deal," she said.
However, Mariah admitted she would have hated to be a contestant on the show when she was first starting out: "I get really attached to certain people for different reasons whether it's their story or what it mainly is is talent. Sometimes I see myself in some of the contestants when I first started and I'm glad I didn't have to do a show like this. I would have hated it! It's been really fun. We're still in the beginning stages but I've learned a lot. I want to continue to be the best I can be in order to help contestants. It's that for me. I don't know if I have a judging style. I try to speak as frankly as possible, but as kindly as possible not sugar coating the whole thing because that does nobody any good and that's boring to watch."

Matthew Morrison: There’s No ‘Glee’ Rivalry

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Drama, Music, Prime Time, FOX, Gossip,
Matthew Morrison says there's no musical rivalry amongst the Glee cast.
The actor - who plays teacher Will Schuester on the hit musical comedy show - insists that although many of the talented cast members are capitalizing on their fame by releasing their own music, they're not in competition with each other. "We're very supportive. I'm excited because Naya [Rivera] and Amber [Riley] are working on their new albums. I'm really excited for them. I feel like they're voices that should be heard. I respect them as artists," he said. When pressed further about friendly rivalry amongst the cast, he said, "Not at all."
Matthew, 34, is set to return to his stage roots for an album of Broadway musical covers, which he will release next year, and although he released a self-titled album in 2011, he feels this is the record he should've made all along. "Coming from Glee, my first album, I really wanted to write some of my own songs just because I wanted people to take me more seriously. Glee is pretty much karaoke, we're doing [songs by] established artists. For this album, this is what I should have done from the get-go - it's what I grew up singing. It's all Broadway classics. I spent three months just doing research on pretty much every Broadway song you could ever imagine. It was just an amazing experience. I kind of selected the best 15 songs that would fit me and fit the live show I want to put on."

Cheryl Cole Suing ‘X Factor’ for $2.3 Million

Cheryl Cole is suing The X Factor for $2.3 million after being dropped by the show.
The "Promise This" hitmaker was axed from music mogul Simon Cowell's talent show just days into the first auditions last year and though she was paid her salary for the entire season, but Cheryl, 29, is claiming they still owe her money.
TMZ reports that Cheryl says she signed a "Pay or Play" contract with production company Blue Orbit, who runs the show, in April 2011 and was assured that she would receive $2 million for the second season of the show - even if she wasn't to appear on the judging panel again. Cheryl also states in her 11-page lawsuit that she is owed further expenses which she was promised, such as a $100,000 wardrobe allowance, a stylist at $25,000 and $15,000-per-month for every hotel she stayed at in Los Angeles, California, during the filming of the show.

Priscilla Presley Thinks ‘The Simpsons’ Should Be Banned

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Animation, Comedy, Prime Time, FOX, Gossip,
Priscilla Presley thinks The Simpsons should be banned because "it's not good for kids." The 67-year-old actress is not a fan of the animated TV show, which sees Homer and his dysfunctional family get into numerous escapades, because she believes it's content does not promote good morals.
When asked what she would do if she was "Queen of Everything" in an interview with Stylist magazine, she said, "I'd have to ban The Simpsons. It's not good for people's moral compass. It's OK for adults as we can put it all together but it's not good for kids and I think we need to bring back something more family orientated like Leave It To Beaver that I used to watch when I was growing up."
Priscilla - who is playing the Wicked Queen in pantomime Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs in London this month - is also worried about the decline of religion in Western society and is concerned about the amount of children being raised by divorced parents. The Naked Gun star believes kids with parents and step-parents are getting mixed moral messages: "We're in trouble. Churches are going, religious leaders are being attacked. I do think we need guidance because we're in trouble right now for not having any. It's the same with parents. When we're growing up it's our parents who we look to to give us guidance, the morals, the ethics, the standards. I find that because kids are being raised by multiple parents with the divorce rate as high as it is, everyone is thinking differently."

Dolly Parton: “I Turned Down X Factor”

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Music, Prime Time, Reality, FOX, NBC, American Idol, Gossip,
Dolly Parton has turned down American Idol and The X Factor. The legendary singer was approached to join both shows as a judge over the years but admitted the only TV talent search she would ever consider appearing on is The Voice because it is more nurturing to its contestants.
"I've been asked to do American Idol and The X Factor almost every time there's a new season. [On The Voice] you don't have to judge that much and I hesitate to judge people," she said.
Dolly previously revealed she will always be grateful to Whitney Houston for making her song "I Will Always Love You" famous and credits her friends and God with preventing her from going down the same road as the tragic singer, who drowned following an accidental overdose in a hotel bathtub in February: "I thank God every day for that song - and Whitney made it popular worldwide. It's a very simple song, really, as simple as anything I've ever written. I've always had good and close friends, and a spiritual faith. God will take the wrong people and things out, and teach me to have the right people and the right things. Some people don't have that, and that's where it can go wrong."

Steven Tyler: “I’m Not a Racist”

Steven Tyler has hit back at Nicki Minaj for calling him a "racist."
The American Idol judge lashed out at the Aerosmith rocker - whom she replaced on the panel of the talent show - after he questioned her suitability and claimed she would've passed on legendary musician Bob Dylan if he auditioned, but Steven was shocked when Nicki took it as a racist insult. "It was a moment, I'm sorry if it was taken wrong. But I'm the furthest from a racist. I'm not sure how she got that from me saying 'I'm not sure she would have judged Bob Dylan.' I was just saying if Bob Dylan came on the show he would have been thrown off. Maybe I spoke out of turn but a racist I'm not," he said.
