Nicki MinajNicki Minaj is set to quit American Idol after one season. The "Moment For Life" singer has reportedly decided not to return to the reality show's judging panel because she wants to focus on her own music career.

"It's safe to say she isn't coming back to Idol. She's okay with it. She had a great time but was only going to do one season anyway," a source said.

The 30-year-old rapper joined the show alongside fellow new judges Keith Urban and Mariah Carey, and veteran judge Randy Jackson, who recently confirmed he is leaving the show. It was previously revealed that producers want to see the show return to a three-judge format next season for the first time in five years in a bid to combat the show's declining ratings.

Kevin Reilly, Fox's entertainment chairman, also revealed all of the judges, including Nicki, had been invited back. Speculation was rife as to whether Mariah and Nicki would return for a second season after a series of explosive public rows. Mariah was said to be planning to quit because of their vicious spats.

American Idol is returning to a three judge format. The singing competition's 13th season will have a diminished panel for the first time in five years in a bid to combat the Fox show's declining ratings.

Kevin Reilly, Fox's entertainment chairman, also revealed current judges Mariah Carey, Keith Urban and Nicki Minaj had been invited back, despite veteran mentor Randy Jackson deciding to leave the panel. "The format will have fresh twists for next season," the TV boss said. Kevin went on to hint the expanded middle rounds were likely to be revamped since he believes they are responsible for dwindling viewing figures.

Demi Lovato and Britney SpearsDemi Lovato wants Britney Spears to return to The X Factor. The "Toxic" singer quit as a judge after just one season on the show and Demi is devastated she won't be working with Britney again, although she has come up with a suitable replacement.

"I wish Britney would come back. My next pick is Lady Gaga though, she's so cool," she said.

Demi and Simon Cowell are the only remaining members of the panel after L.A. Reid also quit at the end of last season, and the TV mogul says top of his list for the new panel is chemistry between the judges. "Simon delivered a simple message: Forget the big names and go for chemistry. He said all these shows have become distracted by signing celebrities rather than judges who really have something to say. We have all seen that big names don't translate into big ratings. Chemistry is top of the list of demands for next season. [Only Demi will return because her chemistry with Simon was] the best thing about the panel last year," a source said.

Both Jennifer Love-Hewitt and Kelly Rowland have been rumored as possible replacements to join the panel in 2014.

Justin Bieber and Selena GomezJustin Bieber, Selena Gomez, Pink and Diddy are being lined up for the new season of American Idol.

Producers on the show are reportedly desperate to sign up the quartet to replace current judges Mariah Carey, Nicki Minaj, Randy Jackson and Keith Urban after ratings fell dramatically this year.

"It's been a lackluster season for Idol and everyone involved with the show is well aware of it so that's why producers are franticly working on lining up big name stars for season 14. There's more drama going on behind the scenes of the show than on the stage, and that's why there's a major overhaul in the works. A telling sign was that the highlight of the season was Mariah and Nicki's explosive feud that was leaked on the web - and that was before the season even aired. Producers have been trying to recreate that buzz ever since and it hasn't worked - the public isn't buying it. The judges don't have real chemistry, and there's no real standout contestant," a source said.

The source additionally explained the choice in choosing the rumored new judges:

Jennifer Love-HewittJennifer Love-Hewitt is in the running to be a judge on X Factor.

The 34-year-old actress - who hit the charts in 2002 with her single "BareNaked" - is rumored to be joining Simon Cowell and Demi Lovato on the third season of the pop star search show as a replacement for the departed L.A. Reid and Britney Spears.

Speaking to Us Weekly magazine, a source said, "Simon is very interested [in Jennifer]." Cowell, 53, has two positions up for grabs on the judging panel and is believed to be chatting to several celebrities about the roles, although Hewitt is believed to be one of the favorites along with Kelly Rowland - who judged one series of the UK version of The X Factor. "Simon has always remained a fan of Kelly's and she's most definitely in the mix to join the judging panel on X Factor," a source said previously.

A representative for The X Factor has described the rumors as "pure speculation," though none have yet been denied.

Hewitt has released four albums in her career but turned her back on music in 2004. However, this year she recorded a cover of "I'm a Woman" to promote the second season of her TV show The Client List.

Jennifer Lopez and Mariah CareyAmerican Idol producers secretly plotted to replace Mariah Carey with Jennifer Lopez. Bosses were keen to see the return of "On the Floor" singer Jennifer midway through the show's current season but, sources tell The Hollywood Reporter, once they were threatened with legal action by Mariah's team they backed off.

The insiders added a search has already begun to replace Mariah, Nicki Minaj and possibly even the entire judge's panel - which also includes Randy Jackson and Keith Urban - for the next season.

Mariah was a huge signing for the show, but has proved less popular with viewers on the show than Jennifer, who appeared in the previous two seasons, was. Mariah's comments and criticism have been criticized as passive and disengaged, and she has been overshadowed by Nicki on the show.

However, another source says research has shown Nicki's performance on the show has not been as popular as expected, adding, "The core viewer is a Midwestern, Southern, older woman who is threatened by Nicki's aggressiveness."

Nicki MinajNicki Minaj threatened to quit American Idol after her favorite act was voted off the show. The "Starships" rapper - who sits on the singing competition's judging panel with Mariah Carey, Keith Urban and Randy Jackson - was left fuming after singer Curtis Finch Jr. landed in the bottom two and was sent home Thursday night.

After host Ryan Seacrest announced that Curtis and fellow contestant Devin Velez had garnered the least viewer votes, an angry Nicki pleaded, "I definitely think Curtis should not be in the bottom two. I mean, I love Devin but I think that Curtis, if you look at every one of his performances, I mean - come on, America, are you kidding me? Curtis, if you go home, I go home."

The 30-year-old musician stayed true to her words, jumping out of her judge's seat and attempting to storm off set as Curtis was eliminated, but she was instructed to return to her chair by fellow judge Randy Jackson.

Emily and Zooey DeschanelEmily Deschanel wants to star with her sister Zooey in New Girl. The Bones actress has revealed she is planning to make a cameo appearance in her sibling's hit sitcom about hapless 20-something Jess Day, and would jump at the chance to join her on set as soon as she has some time off.

"Zooey played my cousin on an episode of Bones a couple of seasons ago and we've talked about me coming in to do New Girl. We shoot on the same lot, so if we weren't so busy it might be really easy to swing on by and play a part. It's hard to get a few hours off, let alone a couple of days to do her show. I watch every episode as soon as I can when I'm not working," she said.

Because the pair play polar opposite characters in their respective shows - Emily plays serious-minded forensic anthropologist Dr. Temperance Brennen - people assume they are different in real life, but the 36-year-old star thinks they share the same core values from growing up in the same family.
