On Gear Live: Samsung S95C: The OLED TV You Can’t Afford (to Ignore!)

CSI Miami

(You can view TV Envy’s Post-Strike Television Schedule here.)

MONDAY (5/5)
  • Two and a Half Men (CBS, 9:00):  (The script was written by scribes.) “George Eads (CSI) has a cameo in which a CSI team investigates a death at Charlie’s house.”  I know Charlie wanted to stop Denise’s reality show, but this is quite a sweeps stunt.
  • House (FOX, 9pm):  “House believes that an actor (Jason Lewis) on his favorite soap is seriously ill after observing his symptoms on television, so he decides to intervene.”  If I had known something like that would work, I would have kidnapped Smith Jerrod a long time ago.
  • Samantha Who? (ABC, 9:30pm):  “Sam’s affair with Todd continues while he’s still seeing a clueless Chloe.”  I’m sorry—why doesn’t Sam just kick her out of her apartment again?  She does own the thing, doesn’t she?
  • CSI: Miami (CBS, 10pm):  “Alexx is stunned when her son is the prime suspect in a murder investigation, and any help she offers could prove costly.”  Buh-bye, Khandi!

Sex and the City cast, Oprah

As FilmCrunch earlier reported, the ladies of Sex and the City will be making several stops to promote their upcoming movie.  Now we know of one more visit on their lengthy itineraries:  Oprah.

Come this Thursday (May 1), all four ladies - Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Kristin Davis, Cynthia Nixon - and will be gabbing with the talk show queen.  That date will, of course, kick off a month filled with appearances for the May 30th premiere.

Will Oprah dare question Cattrall and Parker about the rumored discord between them?  Or will the hour be all about shoes and fashion?  Who cares?  It’s not like I won’t be watching anyway.

House, Hugh Laurie

(You can view TV Envy’s Post-Strike Television Schedule here.)

MONDAY (4/28)
  • Deal or No Deal (NBC, 8pm):  “Darth Vader subs for The Banker in a -themed episode that also features Carrie Fisher, R2-D2 and Chewbacca, who cheer on contesants in a winner-take-all match.”  As if I needed a reason to avoid this program altogether.
  • House (FOX, 9pm):  New episode.  “House suspects that an ER patient with a sunny disposition has a bigger problem than was initially diagnosed.  The reason:  He thinks the patient is too nice.”  I have to admit it—cheery people are a freak of nature.
  • Medium (NBC, 10pm):  “Joe surprises Allison by buying her a used car, but Allison’s subsequent visions warn of the vehicle’s unsavory past.”  Is it a 1958 Plymouth Fury that responds to the name ‘Christine’?
  • CSI: Miami (CBS, 10pm):  “A clue in a case involving the discovery of a body point the CSIs to a robbery that’s being planned on a target who holds a disturbing secret.”  Murders have never been linked to anti-climatic or lame secrets.

Back in January, we told you about a grassroots campaign some fans of As The World Turns had started.

Although the sudser was the first soap to introduce a gay kiss, the program for some reason left the characters - and the viewers - wanting more.

Yesterday, 7 months later, the drama finally allowed Luke and Noah to show some more PDA:

Hallelujah!  Who knew this issue would still be so controversial in 2008?

Dr. Mehmet OzBeing one of ‘s friends definitely has its benefits.

Since the talk show queen was instrumental in getting both Dr. Phil and their own shows, you knew it was just a matter of time before she moved on to her next pet project.  This time, she’ll be responsible for making us sick of Dr. Mehmet Oz.

Up until now, I’ve really liked the doctor. The 47-year-old frequent contributor is very much like that McGraw guy; he tells it like it is.  And guests aren’t afraid to ask him their most embarrassing questions because he’s pleasantly non-judgmental.  (Remember when he hosted that males-only show solo?)  But as likable as the medical expert is, could we tolerate seeing him on a regular basis?

Word has it the latest talk show competitor will hit the airwaves come Fall 2009.  Start prepping your medical questions now.

Kathie Lee Gifford TodayJust when you were absolutely sure you’d never have to sit through another excruciating story about Kathie Lee Gifford’s children she is coming back to morning TV.

The 11-time Emmy winner has been named co-host of the 4th hour of NBC’s Show. The new gig starts April 7.

is obviously no stranger to this day part. She was on TV for 15 years as co-host of Live with Regis and Kathie Lee. Gifford left the show in 2000. She was replaced by fellow, overly-perky personality, .

The Hills

(You can view TV Envy’s Post-Strike Television Schedule here.)

MONDAY (3/24)
  • How I Met Your Mother (CBS, 8:30):  The overly-promoted Britney Spears cameo finally airs tonight.  Let’s just be happy the show is only 30-minutes long.
  • Pussycat Dolls Present: Girlicious (CW, 9pm):  Nicole Scherzinger gives the girls tips on vocal expression.  Sadly, advice on releasing solo albums is not something she can dish out.
  • CSI: Miami (CBS, 10pm):  New episode.  “A bride is murdered at her wedding.  The investigation takes the CSIs to a strip club where the bachelor party took place.”  Strip club? This would be the perfect time for another Elizabeth Berkley appearance.
  • The Hills (MTV, 10pm):  Season premiere.  I wonder if LC wore any of her own designs in Paris.  Doubt it.

Snoop DoggIf celebs need to get themselves seen, they may want to start hitting up the hot spots in Llanview.

Over the past few months, has seen a score of musical performers travel through its Pennsylvanian town.  Last October, Timbaland hit the stage at Capricorn, a hip night club on the show.  One month ago, Mary J. Blige performed during two episodes of the daytime drama.  Now it’s Snoop’s chance to bring the house down.

The star of Father Hood will take the mike during the next sweeps period.  will perform several songs from his new album in another two-day stint.  The rapper will also serve up his own treatment of OLTL‘s opening theme and lend his acting skills to the ABC soap.

You can check out Snoop’s gig at Ultra Violet on May 8th and 9th.

The Young and the Restless, Victor NewmanAnd I thought Today‘s dominance over was a long one.

At the end of this month, CBS’ Young and the Restless will celebrate a long 35 years on air.  Although that milestone has been reached by several other dramas, Y&R has achieved something not many can brag about:  It’s been the #1 program for 1000 weeks in a row.

The long-running soap opera passed that amazing marker at the end of February.  For those who would like to be spared the math - that means the serial has been tops for over 19 years.  ( has been whopping GMA‘s butt for only 12+ years.)  The program first hit #1 back in December 1988.  (For a historical reference, that was the same month Libyan terrorists blew up Pan Am Flight 103.)

On today’s episode of The View, host took time out to talk about her friend Patrick Swayze.  (It was recently announced that the Ghost star was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.)

She revealed that her memorable role in the weeper was primarily due to her former co-star’s influence.  Had Swayze not influenced director Jerry Zucker to cast Goldberg, she would not have received her 1991 win for Best Supporting Actress.
