On Gear Live: 2024 Nissan Z Nismo Review

Everybody Hates ChrisPoor Chris.  He’s far too young to be workin’ for the weekend.  When other kids should be waking up on Saturday mornings and enjoying their cartoons, he is too busy soaking up every ounce of missed sleep he can get.  Going across town to attend the white school his mother prefers means getting about 10 hours less sleep than every other kid. Ironic.  I thought riding public transportation gave you the opportunity to get more sleep.

Freddie Full SeasonHey, Freddie!  Have you noticed anything about your recent success?  Did you finally realize that dropping Matthew Lillard as your sidekick would probably be the best thing for your career?  The proof?  Wing Commander, She’s All That, Summer Catch.. do we need to go on?? Yes—you could say that the Scooby Doo movies were hugely popular, but kids movies don’t count.  It’s pretty hard to screw a ‘family-friendly’ flick up.

Well, regardless of how you did it… congratulations to you, Freddie Prinze, Jr., for having the next ABC show to be picked up for a full-season.  Whatever you do, just don’t bring in Matthew to guest star until you’ve at least made it past the sophomore jinx…

Desperate HousewivesLooks like a question Desperate Housewives fans have been asking all season has been answered: what happened to the twins? Lynette’s just-this-side-of-evil twin boys, Preston and Porter, played by Brent and Shane Kinsman respectively, will once again be seen on the show. Seems like they had to finish wrapping their new film, Cheaper By the Dozen 2. Lynette will no doubt be pulling her hair out again over these two any day now. True, that mystery has been solved, but how about this one: how come baby Penny hasn’t aged a day in nearly two years? Hmmm…maybe it’s the same reason Gabrielle hasn’t started showing even the tiniest bit of pregnancy yet.

Jokes have been made since the season began concerning Gabrielle’s (played by Eva Longoria) ‘magical’ pregnancy: no matter how far along she was, she didn’t show any sign of being pregnant, still wearing her typical skin-tight clothes without a hint of a bump. Now disgusted fans are wondering if is it because the show never intended for Gabrielle to have the baby? Gabrielle took a tumble down the stairs in the last episode, and the last shot of her sadly gazing at a sonogram picture strongly suggested that she’d suffered a miscarriage, which viewers of the show are none too happy about. It’s a cheap plot device, even for the notoriously cheap sweeps season. And falling down the stairs? That harkens back to Gone With the Wind…are the writers so “desperate” they must resort to the most tired clichés?

Arrested Development CancelledIts a sad day in TV world.  One of the best, most original shows to come on in god knows how long is done.  Its been a long time coming but I wanted to believe that people would just start watching.  They’ve also cut back the episodes to 13 for its “final” season.  I say “final” because I’m praying that FOX decides to save the show at the last minute - fat chance, I know.  I’d love to see HBO pick it up and unleash its full potential.

Mandy MooreWhile we don’t have an exact date yet for its mid-season return, we finally have some new news about Scrubs:  actress/singer Mandy Moore will be appearing in two of the upcoming episodes.  Note, we didn’t say whether that was good news or bad news. I can’t say that we are thrilled about Zach Braff’s real-life love interest guest-starring, but we’re gonna step out of our comfort zone and give Mandy the benefit of the doubt.  She definitely proved that she could handle humor in the hilarious movie Saved! and her story arc on Entourage wasn’t bad either.  Oh - and wouldn’t it be juicy to see Mandy and Elliot rip each other’s hair out?

Page KennedySo just when you thought you figured out who the mystery man was in the Betty Applewhite’s basement, you are going to have to guess again.  Apparently actor Page Kennedy may have acted inappropriately on the show and in real life.  A Desperate Housewives spokesperson announced Tuesday that Page Kennedy was fired for “improper conduct.”  No other information has been released thus far elaborating on the details.  According to insiders, the incident did not involve any of the cast members.  Variety is reporting that newcomer Nashawn Kearse (Entourage, Marci X) has already been slated to take over the role of Caleb. Kennedy’s last appearance will air this Sunday.

My Name Is EarlAfter rummaging through Earl’s motel room for the umpteenth time, Joy wonders when she will get some of the money that she is owed. When is she going to get her hot tub?  Earl should have known it was inevitable.  Even after all the grief and illegitimate children Joy gave him, he would eventually have to give her something in return.  Which brings us to #153 on his list:  Broke Joy’s fancy figurine.

Adamant that the winnings were only to be used to for his karma list, Earl agrees to remedy something that he ruined of Joy’s.  He wants to replace the fancy figurine that he and Randy blew up with a firecracker.  Unfortunately, completing that task would not be such a piece of cake.  That particular figurine could only be obtained by the first place prizewinner of the Prettiest Pretty Princess Pageant.  Joy received her last figurine back in 1981 when she and mother won.  Seems Earl destroyed a very important piece of Joy’s childhood because that was the last figurine she ever received.  Once the Stoker family entered the competition, the pageant title never changed hands again.

Golden Girls LifetimeOmigod—it’s already been 20 years since Golden Girls first started??  That would make me… uhh.. uhh.. a Bronze girl?

To celebrate this notable milestone, Lifetime Television will be dedicating a full day to Blanche, Sophia, Dorothy and Rose.  A marathon of the 20 greatest episodes will take over the channel on Friday, November 11th.  The night will then be capped off with an encore presentation of the The Golden Girls Reunion.  This day should be a huge ratings boon for Lifetime.  The original airing of the reunion show brought the network it’s highest ratings ever for a special. If someone had told me 20 years ago that there would still be fans of St. Olaf stories in 2005, I would have thrown my chocolate milk at them.

DIE HARD FAN ALERT:  You can have the opportunity to meet Rue McClanahan, Betty White and Bea Arthur in person on November 22.  Visit Lifetime’s website for more information.

Desperate HousewivesI don’t know about you—- but if I was a mother of four children, I’d be more than happy to have an excuse to get a few drinks after work.  “But honey – my boss made me do it.”  Apparently Lynette doesn’t feel the same way I do, and she was growing very resentful that her boss, Nina, was dragging her to bars every night.  Unfortunately, Lynette only had herself to blame since she was the one who opened up Pandora’s box.  Who knew that trying to help out her boss would go so wrong?

In an effort to help her unwind, Lynette threw in the towel and offered to buy Nina a drink.  Unbeknownst to Lynette, her boss was a wildcat repressed in a hard management shell.  After scoring a few drinks and an eventual score, Nina comes back to work in old clothes and a new attitude.  Not wanting the good times to end, Nina pressures (a.k.a. blackmails) Lynette to come out with her again…and again…and again. After all, it’s fun going out with someone who’s married – you don’t have to compete for the male attention.  Fed up doing Nina’s man-bidding, Lynette finally decides to end the fun once and for all.  With a new look and new attitude, she works the bar for herself.  After stealing the spotlight from Nina, Lynette wins her freedom back.  Apparently going back home to a husband and four kids is a real victory for some.
