Six Feet Under, the quirky and addictive HBO drama chronicling the adventures of a family who owns a funeral parlor, went out with one of the most creative finales in TV history. If you were a fan or have always wanted to see what all the fuss is about, there’s great news - Bravo will air the complete series, purchased for a cool $15 million. That’s a lot of cash, but likely will be worth its price when the show garners big ratings.
We can’t wait to tune in.

Shakira’s New Music Video Hits Phones Before Television
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Music, Cable, News,
In an interesting bit of news, latina rocker Shakira will be debuting her new video, Hips Don’t Lie, on Verizon’s V-CAST service. This means that V-CAST subscribers will be able to download and view the new single before television viewers get the opportunity to do so. The video, which also features Wyclef Jean, will be seen on TV and other distribution channels at a later date. We expect that mobile television devices will continue to clinch exclusives like this, especially now that Microsoft’s UMPCs are in the mix.

Encouraged by the success of the series Monk, featuring a delightfully weird OCD detective, the USA network will soon premier a new ‘dramedy’ with a similar style. Psych will follow the adventures of a detective who, desperate for work, cons law enforcement into believing he has psychic powers. Sounds like a winner to us!
Like “Monk,” “Psych” features an unlikely detective. The series centers on Shawn Spencer (James Roday), an amateur sleuth who cons the police into believing he has psychic powers that help him solve crimes. With the reluctant assistance of his best friend (Dule Hill, of “The West Wing”), he has no choice but to get to work on complicated cases. Corbin Bernsen co-stars as Shawn’s police officer father.
“Psych,” written by Steve Franks, is tentatively slated to premiere July 7 in “Monk’s” 10 p.m. Friday slot.

Good news for fans of Showtime’s lesbian-centered drama The L Word: the show has been picked up for another season. Always a cult favorite, The L Word leaped in popularity during its third season, with excellent ratings and a tremendous Internet presence. With loads of drama, sex, and intriguing characters, it’s no surprise that the show has become a hit.
With the start of its third season in January, the ensemble drama series following a group of lesbian friends in Los Angeles began generating more than a third of all the traffic on the Showtime Web site.
Clips from The L Word episodes make up the top 10 video clips streamed on the site. Downloads of the show’s podcasts have increased by triple digits, Showtime says.
Yahoo! Inc. noted a 26 percent spike in online traffic related to the show in its “Buzz Log” last week. This hive of activity coupled with the creative development of the show persuaded Showtime Networks entertainment chief Robert Greenblatt to give the network’s sprawling Sapphic soap, whose cast includes Mia Kirshner, Jennifer Beals, and Laurel Holloman, an early pickup for next year.
“When we have this much equity in a show, and the audience responds as rabidly as they did this year, it’s a big success for us,” Greenblatt says. “This is and will remain one of our signature shows. A pickup was a no-brainer.”

Raven-Symone Shines In True Life Drama For One Night
Posted by Rhys Alexander Categories: Drama, Cable, Talent,
Raven-Symone, best known for her roles as the adorable tyke Olivia on The Cosby Show, and as the lead character on the eponymous That’s So Raven, will step into more serious shoes Monday night. Based on a true story, Lifetime’s For One Night follows the story of Raven’s character, who causes violent controversy when she seeks to end her high school’s tradition of racially segregated proms.
The show premieres tonight, and will repeat several times throughout the week, so be sure to check your local listings. We were fortunate enough to screen an advance copy, and it is obvious that the comedy-trained Raven-Symone could have a shining future in dramatic series. This would be an excellent film to watch with your family, and discuss the issues afterwards.
“I was so excited to be a part of this,” Raven-Symone says. “I’d always held out on doing a dramatic piece, because I didn’t want my first step into drama being a superficial, thin story. I thought this was just thick enough to show people [what I can do]. I don’t want to do pieces that don’t make a difference, and this being a true story made it even more perfect for me.”
“For One Night” may startle viewers by showing such prejudice still exists some places, but Raven-Symone maintains she isn’t surprised. “I come from the South (Atlanta), and there’s still racism there. A lot of people don’t want to open their minds to the new world, and I never said that’s everybody, and it’s not saying I think their beliefs are wrong. They haven’t opened their eyes completely. It’s not stupidity, it’s just ignorance ... not knowing the facts, not wanting to change.
“You get that sometimes, and you just have to walk away from the situation sometimes. Otherwise, you can get yourself in trouble and get your emotions tied in, then bad stuff can happen. If you can handle it responsibly, and you’re smart and educated on the subject, you’ll be OK.”

Lucy Lawless Returns to Battlestar Galactica
Posted by Rhys Alexander Categories: Sci-Fi/Horror, Cable, Talent,
The gorgeous Amazon is back: Xena’s Lucy Lawless returns to television in Battlestar Galactica, in a reprisal of the character D’Anna Briars. Fans can enjoy Lawless’s talents for ten episodes…and will no doubt keep their fingers crossed that she will become a permanent addition to the cast.
Fans of the critically hailed show won’t have to wait to see her again, though—she’s set to make another guest appearance in an episode scheduled for Friday, Feb. 24.
Lawless’ character, a journalist, arrived on Galactica to do an expose on supposed misconduct by crew members that resulted in the death of civilians. Her piece ended up having the opposite effect, however, bridging a gap between the military and civilian survivors of humanity.
Viewers also found out that D’Anna had an ulterior motive—she’s a human-looking Cylon sent to gather information on the humans.
Lawless, a native of New Zealand, shot stardom in this country during her time as “Xena: Warrior Princess,” which ran in syndication from 1995-2000. She’s also appeared on “The X-Files” and “Veronica Mars” and starred in the short-lived WB series “Tarzan” two seasons ago.

MTV ‘s Logo Channel Searches For ‘Gay Life’ In New Reality Series
Posted by Rhys Alexander Categories: Prime Time, Reality, Cable, Talent,
MTV’s Logo Channel is searching for people who celebrate the gay lifestyle. Celebrity Fit Club’s Ant will host. No doubt the novel subject matter and Ant’s flair will make this an entertaining excursion into television.
Logo—the channel that targets lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender viewers—is looking for gay life in small-town America.
The MTV Networks outlet has ordered six episodes of a series tentatively titled US of ANT, in which comedian Ant travels across the United States investigating how members of the gay community are getting along.
The show is set to premiere in the summer.
As to how the towns will be chosen, Ant said he’s “going to throw a dart at a map of America and wherever it lands, I’m going to seek out the gays in that town. I hope my bad aim and lazy eye don’t keep me out of the South.”
