On Gear Live: 2024 Nissan Z Nismo Review

Bradley Cooper in 'GQ'Now that Bradley Cooper is an Oscar-nominated actor who commands top billing in critically-acclaimed films, he's open to talking about his struggles as an actor in Hollywood before he was a household name.

In the January issue of GQ, Cooper recalls his time working on the J.J. Abrams show Alias, which stars Jennifer Garner as Sydney Bristow. Despite having a recurring role as Bristow's best friend Will Tippin, Cooper was unhappy with his lack of screen time: “I would only work three days a week... And then for the second season, I got even more sidelined. I was like, ‘Ugh.’ And then next thing you know, I was like, ‘I want to f*****g kill myself.’"

With his growing frustration over his lack of work on Alias, Cooper then asked Abrams to write his character off. “J.J. was like, ‘OK,’ He probably would’ve fired me, anyway," Cooper quipped. He even considered quitting his acting career altogether: "At some point, you have to come to terms with 'The business just doesn’t want you,' you know what I mean?"

Renee ZellwegerRenee Zellweger is being lined-up to appear on Dancing with the Stars.

Bosses for the reality show are keen to pull out all of the stops for the next season by choosing celebrity contestants who have all won Oscars, and they believe securing Renee - who took home the Best Supporting Actress Academy Award for her role in Cold Mountain in 2003 - will encourage other stars to sign up.

"Renee is being seen as the lynchpin contestant that would seal the deal for the theme season. The producers are fixated on Renee, in part because she hasn't done much dancing at all since Chicago more than 10 years ago and there's this real mystery about her and what she's up to. They keep raising the amount of money they are willing to give her in the hope that she'll say yes, and the theory is that if they can get her to sign on, then it would attract some other really prominent Oscar winning stars - who wouldn't normally do reality TV - to fall in step," a source said.

Ratings for the ABC program have decreased in recent seasons after producers only wanted celebrities with little dancing experience to take part, but they believe a talent like Renee's could boost viewings. "Now that the rule that stars had to be total dance novices has been broken, it opens the door wide for someone like Renee, who hoofed it in Chicago, to strut her stuff. The DWTS masterminds think the idea of having a theme of Oscar winners would be a sure ratings-grabber," the source explained.

Amber Riley and Derek HoughAmber Riley has won Dancing with the Stars.

The Glee actress and her professional partner Derek Hough have taken home this year's mirrorball trophy after triumphing over High School Musical actor Corbin Bleu and his professional partner Karina Smirnoff with a perfect-scoring samba/quickstep fusion.

"Anything that scares me I want to do. You can do whatever, whatever, whatever you put your mind to," Amber said, speaking after the result was announced.

And despite coming second, Corbin was just delighted to have taken part: "I thank God for this experience. I thank my family."

Earlier in the evening, Jack Osbourne - whose sister Kelly came third on the show in 2009 - and his partner Cheryl Burke were eliminated into third place after the first round of dances. "I'm definitely not a better dancer than my sister, for one. We're both tied. Just going the distance for me was winning enough," he said.

Kerry Washington on 'Lucky'Kerry Washington thinks her success is a "miracle."

The Scandal star, who is expecting her first child with her NFL star husband of four months, Nnamdi Asomugha, was terrified of becoming famous but she decided to become an actress because she loves telling stories.

"It's a miracle to even work in this industry. I didn't become an actress to be on the cover of magazines. That was always a little scary to me. What I love about acting is the craft of becoming different people and telling a story," the 36-year-old beauty told the December/January issue of Lucky magazine.

Despite being considered one of the most beautiful and fashion savvy women in Hollywood, the New York-born star insists it takes a lot of work to make her look good and she doesn't compare herself to other actresses: "Even for me, I think it's a real danger to compare yourself to someone on a television show. I know that I am not going to look like [Scandal character] Olivia when I wake up and go to the bathroom at 4 o'clock in the morning. On the set, it's somebody's job to follow me around all day with spackle."

Cher

"I'm so not qualified to be judging on a technical basis because I don't know anything about ballroom dancing. I just don't want to be responsible for someone getting a different mark than a professional would give them. So I am a little worried about that part."

Jenny McCarthyJenny McCarthy is set to join The View as a permanent presenter.

The bubbly blonde has frequently appeared on the daytime talk show and has impressed producers so much they now want her to take over as Joy Behar's permanent replacement when she leaves in August. "She is in talks right now. The cast and crew get a kick out of Jenny, she's a good fit," a source said.

While Jenny was initially thought to be unable to take on the job full time due to her commitments to The Jenny McCarthy Show on VH1, its low ratings mean she will likely be happy to make the move. "Her show isn't quite working out so she's open to it," the insider added.

Jenny has already been confirmed to be appearing as a guest host after Joy's contract on the ABC series runs out in August. Speaking previously about her part-time role, the former Playboy model said, "I will be helping them while they're looking ... but maybe sometime in the future I'll be there."

Stephen King

America FerreraAmerica Ferrera is planning a return to TV.

The End Of Watch actress - who shot to fame on TV show Ugly Betty - is reportedly planning to star in telenovela project Pedro & Maria, a contemporary adaptation of William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet.

"Pedro and Maria are two opposites cut from the same cloth caught in the trap of forbidden love. He is a second generation Dominican from the mean streets of Washington Heights. She is a Puerto Rican whose parents made millions as real estate developers. It's a clash of the haves and the have-nots, of Main St vs. Wall St, set against a volatile cultural backdrop that fiercely believes neither side should mix with the other," the series synopsis states.

Although America found fame as the titular character in Ugly Betty - earning an Emmy Award and Golden Globe Award for her performance - she has previously admitted she nearly quit acting to follow her academic dream until one of her professors gave her some helpful encouragement:
