Tsk, tsk, Ty Pennington. The megaphone barking host of ABC’s Extreme Makeover: Home Edition was arrested for DUI over the weekend. He was arrested at 12:15 a.m. on Saturday and released a couple of hours later after posting $5,000 bail. Pennington will head to court on June 4th. He made the following statement: “I made an error in judgment. We all make mistakes, however this is about accountability. Under no circumstances should anyone consume alcohol while driving. I could have jeopardized the lives of others and I am grateful there was no accident or harm done to anyone. This was my wake-up call. I also want to apologize to my fans, ABC Television and my design team for my lapse in judgment and the embarrassment I have caused.” You know, Ty used to appeal to me when he was the carpenter on Trading Spaces—a fun-loving guy who had a good sense of humor. But when he took on Makeover, I couldn’t stand him any more. Maybe it’s the megaphone or his need to bogart the camera as much as possible.
