Howard Stern stopped recently to talk with Entertainment Tonight on the prospect of judging American Idol. The rumor has been flying for weeks that Stern is going to get the gig, though he says it hasn’t been offered to him and he doesn’t seem too keen to accept it. “The show’s in trouble without Simon Cowell, because he’s the only one with an opinion,” the radio star said of Idol‘s future - a future that, apparently, will not contain both Stern and new judge Ellen DeGeneres.

The talk show maven has reportedly stated that she won’t work with Howard Stern, and will in fact leave the show if he’s brought on board. In response, Stern is now saying that he won’t work with her, either.

“Ellen [DeGeneres] has said she won’t work with me, but quite frankly, after watching her on the stupid show, I gotta tell ya, I won’t work with Ellen. She’s out if I come in.” Clash of the talk show titans! “I can only do so many jobs and work so many places,” Stern said of doing the show.
