Tina Fey Talks About Returning as Palin

Tina Fey and Amy Poehler on SNLAlthough Tina Fey is not exactly in need of a job, it looks as if the multiple Emmy-winner will finish the task she really hates doing: playing Sarah Palin.

Even though it was hard denying the similarity in their looks (even Fey’s daughter called the VP candidate “Mommy”), Tina said she was dead set against taking on the role for her old stomping grounds. Fortunately for us, a persistent Lorne Michaels (SNL‘s producer) won out on in the end.

“I was fighting them all week on it. I kept saying, ‘I don’t want to do it, I’m not an impressionist.’ I kept telling Lorne, ‘No! I’ll show up ... I’ll do anything except play her. I can’t do it.’ Then, I was worn down. Lorne wore me down by the end of the week,” Fey said to Access Hollywood.

So now that she’s gotten past the initial resistance - and received critical-acclaim for her impersonation - will Tina be kind enough to do it all over again? While she didn’t specifically say she would, it appears another late-night cameo will happen soon…though it might still be a reluctant one.

When questioned about Palin in the Emmys press room, the 30 Rock star said she’ll be thrilled when this whole thing is over.

“I want to be done playing this lady Nov. 5. So if anybody can help me be done playing this lady Nov. 5, that would be good for me.”

But should Palin stick around past November 5, Fey wouldn’t just leave her fans high and dry…would she?
