Thursday Ratings: Leno, Vampire Take Hits

Increased competition resulted in interesting results for yesterday’s programs. For the first time in days, The Jay Leno Show saw numbers under 10 million. Meanwhile, The Vampire Diaries - last Thursday’s record breaker - came packed with a little less bite. At the end of the evening, CBS was on top with the viewers while FOX was first in the demos.
8pm
- The premiere of Survivor: Samoa (11.5 million, 3.5/11 in 18-49) had the smallest audience in Survivor debut history.
- Approximately 11 million watched the debut of Bones (3.0/9).
- SNL Weekend Update Thursday (2.0/7) got 5.7 million warmed up for the night; Parks and Recreation (2.1/6) followed with 5 million.
- The first hour of Grey’s Anatomy* (1.2/4) picked up 4.3 million.
- The Vampire Diaries (3.8 million, 1.6/5) lost 1 million since last Thursday.

- CSI* (2.0/6 in 18-49) registered 8.8 million.
- The Office (8.1 million, 4.0/11) had the night’s best demos.
- Fringe (2.9/8) rang up 8 million.
- Community‘s series premiere (7.7 million, 3.7/10) retained most of its lead-in.
- The final hour of Grey’s Anatomy* (5.6 million, 1.7/5) did better than the first.
- Supernatural (2.8 million, 1.2/3) was off by 600,000.
10pm
- A repeat of The Mentalist* (8.7 million, 1.9/6 in 18-49) topped NBC in the hour.
- The Jay Leno Show (8.5 million, 2.7/8) plunged nearly 50% since Monday.
- Private Practice* (1.0/3) settled for 3.4 million.
