Last night’s programming ended with interesting results. Despite non-stop promotions, ABC’s freshman series The Deep End struggled to find an audience with the 18-49s during its hour. Meanwhile, CBS had some good and bad news. On the plus side, repeats of The Big Bang Theory did better than original comedies on NBC. On the negative side, Bones actually beat CSI in the demos.

• Bones (11.9 million, 3.5/10 in 18-49) had its biggest audience in three years.
• The first episode of The Big Bang Theory (2.1/6) pulled in 6.9 million; a second half hour (2.4/7) rose to 7.5 million
• The Deep End (1.8/5) had 7 million testing out the waters.
• Community (4.7 million, 2.1/6) gave up 700,000.
• Parks and Recreation (4.3 million, 2.0/5) was down 300,000.
• The Vampire Diaries (1.6/4) returned to 3.7 million.

9pm

• CSI (14.2 million, 3.1/8 in 18-49) fell by 1.2 million.
• Grey’s Anatomy (12.6 million, 4.6/12) had the best demos of the evening.
• The Office (3.7/9) entertained 7.3 million.
• Fringe (6.9 million, 2.6/7) picked up 300,000.
• 30 Rock (5.6 million, 2.8/7) added on 500,000.
• Supernatural (1.3/3) scored 2.8 million.

10pm

• The Mentalist (14.5 million, 3.1/8 in 18-49) had the most viewers of the night.
• Private Practice (9.7 million, 3.6/10) discharge 1.3 million.
• The Jay Leno Show (4.5 million, 1.4/4) did about the same.
