No More MacGruber: Will Forte Leaves SNL

Given the dismal response to the MacGruber film, Saturday Night Live fans might not care if that character died. But, really—who doesn’t love Will Forte?
The funnyman who was featured in sketches like political candidate Tim Calhoun and opposite band Jon Bovi has just announced that he will be leaving the late night program. The parting of ways was reportedly amicable.

“After eight great seasons, Will has made the decision to move on from SNL to pursue new opportunities. He is eternally grateful to Lorne [Michaels] and all of the incredible people he worked with over the years,” his rep said in a statement.
Will recently guested as a cross dresser on 30 Rock and has voiced the character of Principal Wally Farquhare on The Cleveland Show. His replacement on NBC has not yet been announced.
