NBC Orders 6 New Shows
NBC has ordered a very ambitious lineup for the 2009-2010 fall season. The network is rounding out their programming with four brand-new dramas and two never-before-seen comedies.
Ron Howard and Brian Grazer are producing Parenthood, a series based on the film they did together decades ago. Peter Krause, Maura Tierney, Craig T. Nelson, Bonnie Bedelia and Erika Christensen are among the cast. The drama/comedy will explore life with kids…if NBC viewers aren’t already getting enough of that as it is.
Trauma, one of NBC’s new medical dramas, focuses on first-response paramedics (and already sounds doomed). The series is set in San Francisco and stars Derek Luke, Cliff Curtis, Aimee Garcia and others.

NBC is offering up another medical-toned drama in the form of Mercy, which centers on the lives of nurses at Mercy Hospital. The female-heavy series stars Michelle Trachtenberg, Jamie Lee Kirchner and Taylor Schilling, among others.
The only promising drama being introduced by NBC seems to be Day One, which begins right after a catastrophic event which has affected the whole of the world. The survivors of the event will attempt to re-build society even as they try to find out what caused the destruction in the first place. The cast includes Adam Campbell, Catherine Dent and David Lyons.
100 Questions will introduce new comedy to NBC, offering up “funny answers” to 100 questions about love. The female-themed series revolves around Charlotte Payne, played by Sophie Winkleman, a girl who just can’t find Mr. Right. This snooze fest also stars Elizabeth Ho and David Walton.
Community showcases the lives of those living and studying at Greendale Community College. The series will feature a group of “misfits” which includes a lawyer with a revoked degree (Joel McHale) and characters played by Danny Pudi, Alison Brie and Chevy Chase, among others.
