My Top Five:  Ugly (Yet Funny) Men

Will FerrellLast night I stumbled upon an episode of the and found myself sucked in by the thought-provoking topics.  For those who have not seen the game show yet, the concept is fairly simple.  The contestants have to guess (within a certain range) how a sampling of Americans answered a particular question.  For example:  “What percentage of Americans think Elvis is still really alive?”

Okay, I actually made that last example up.  But one real question from last night had me thinking:  “What percentage of women said that they would date an ugly guy because they found him funny?”  (Or something like that).  Unfortunately, I don’t remember the actual answer because my mind started trailing off.  I quietly wondered:

‘Which ‘ugly’ actors could I see dating simply because they made me laugh?’

Surprisingly enough—coming up with this list was actually quite difficult.  I usually find funny men so appealing I don’t consider them ‘ugly’.  So I had to step back and choose candidates I never would have considered upon first glance.

Here’s my final list (in no particular order):

  • :  Once I saw him running around naked in Old School...
  • Bill Murray: The Lost in Translation/Groundhog Day combination makes him the perfect romantic funny man.
  • Ricky Gervais: I just love a British sense of humor.  Though I’m not sure that I could make it through a date, let alone a conversation, without wanting to turn the subtitles on.
  • John C. McGinley:  What an interesting package.  He plays such extremely intimidating roles yet he has an amazing sense of wit.  I could just listen to Dr. Cox hurl insults at J.D. all day long.
  • :  It’s really his similarity to the female President of Finland that has him on this list.  Plus, he’s married to a woman from Seattle—so he’s obviously brilliant.

Feel free to dissect my list and tell me where I’ve gone wrong.  Then offer up some of your answers and let me judge you!
