Meryl Davis and dancer Maksim Chmerkovskiy were crowned the winners of Dancing With the Stars last night.
The figure skater and her professional partner, who scored 30 points for their fusion of the Argentine tango/Cha cha, giving them a perfect 90 when combined with their scores from Monday's show.
Veteran dancer Maksim - who was competing for the 14th series - was delighted with his win and explained, "It's just plastic, but it means so much. And when it's lasted a decade of running after, it means so much more, and to do it with Meryl is a dream come true. There's a reason why it didn't happen before. This was meant to happen with this one."
"Thank you all for the incredible support.... I'm completely overwhelmed. @MaksimC and I have been so fortunate to share this journey w/ you! [sic]," Maryl wrote on Twitter.
The judges were equally delighted with the pair and glad they won the 18th series. "The best part of this whole season was you two," Carrie Ann Inaba said.
Meanwhile, Len Goodman hinted he is leaving the show: "This might be my last season, and if it is, I couldn't wish for a better dance to watch to finish up with."
The pair went up against Amy Purdy and Derek Hough, who came second, and Candace Cameron Bure and Mark Ballas who took the third spot in the 18th series finale. Although Candace and Mark didn't win, scoring 78 out of 90 in total, they had a great time working together. "I can't believe I even made it here," she explained. "I made an amazing friend. It was a complete joy and an honor to get to know you," Mark added.
The two-hour season finale also featured the return of last season's winner Amber Riley as well as a performance from rapper Iggy Azalea.
