MTV VIDEO: Kanye West Disrespects Taylor Swift at VMAs
UPDATE: You can read Taylor Swift’s response here.
UPDATE: You can read Kanye West’s “apology” here.
Let’s just make this clear—this stunt was not orchestrated like Bruno’s moment with Eminem.
During tonight’s MTV Video Music Awards, Kanye West stunned the audience—and an already stunned Taylor Swift—with a declaration that will be talked about for quite some time. While accepting an award for Best Female Video, the country singer was interrupted by the rapper who was upset about Beyonce’s loss in the category.
Although Kanye is known for acting like a child when he is not presented an award, he felt it was necessary to defend Ms. Knowles’ honor during Taylor’s moment on stage. (Based on the shocked expression on Beyonce’s face, she clearly didn’t want his help.) Unfortunately, that left the beautiful 19-year-old standing there with nothing left to say.
Needless to say, West’s actions were not well-received by those in attendance. (He was reportedly booted out of Radio City Music Hall at some point.) A standing ovation for Taylor Swift immediately after the incident eventually lead to nasty tweets from fellow musicians.
Here is just a sampling:
Pink (@Pink): “Kanye west is the biggest piece of s**t on earth. Quote me.”
Pink (@Pink): “My heart goes out to taylor swift. She is a sweet and talented girl and deserved her moment. She should know we all love her.”
Pink (@Pink): “Beyonce is a classy lady.I feel for her, too.Its not her fault at all, and her and taylor did their thing. And douche bag got kicked out. HA.”
Katy Perry (@katyperry): “F**K U KANYE. IT’S LIKE U STEPPED 0N A KITTEN.”
