Now that we’ve had a few weeks to get used to the idea, it’s time for us to fully accept it. Brenda Walsh is coming back.

Just this weekend, CW confirmed that Shannen Doherty is returning to the zip she was once famously booted out of. In the announcement, we learned that Doherty will come back to West Beverly after she is asked to guest direct a school play.

Those who recall her stint in ‘Cat on a Hot Tin Roof’ may be surprised to learn that Brenda’s character has since become a “successful theater actress, splitting her time between London and New York.” So successful, in fact, that she has already moved on to directing her own productions. (Hence, the invite from her alma mater.)

Responding to the casting news, Tori Spelling delivered a statement we’ll probably see her later rehearsing on Tori & Dean. “That’s probably the best news the fans could ever get.”

In other 90210 news, TV Guide reports that a change has been made to the show’s central characters. The main family will now be known as ‘the Wilsons’, not ‘the Mills’. Wow - that changes everything completely.

Look for Doherty and the rest of the new cast when 90210 debuts on September 2.
