Glee Reality Show Nixed

Months after announcing a Glee reality show which would depict the search for contestants on the series, FOX has released a new announcement saying the project has been nixed. Series creator Ryan Murphy doesn’t want to spread himself too thin, so he’ll continue to keep the bulk of his focus on Glee.
When the announcement for the Glee-centric reality series was made, would-be contestants were asked to post videos on MySpace. The show would detail the search to fill three roles on the series from a pool of contestants selected by the free-for-all submissions. Great idea, right? So, why is the whole thing in the can now?

According to those in-the-know, Murphy and his co-workers are already strained for time working on the show that spawned a tour, multiple hit albums and huge publicity junkets from Los Angeles to New York (with a stop at the White House somewhere in the middle). And so, to avoid risking an over-worked production crew (and perhaps compromising the most talked-about new show of the year), there will be no Glee reality show.
But don’t stop believing that you may yet make it on the show. The Glee production team will still review the submitted videos and choose a handful of winners who will appear on at least one episode of the hit show.
