Dave Chappelle Scheduled to Make a Rare TV Appearance
After abruptly leaving his popular Comedy Central show during the production of the third season, comedian Dave Chappelle has been very rarely heard from. He cropped up in comedy clubs and once on HBO before staging a marathon stand-up session at the famous Laugh Factory in Hollywood . The performance went on an amazing six hours and twelve minutes.
By his own admission, Chappelle has always put his stand-up comedy first. He reportedly grew so annoyed with an audience in Sacramento, California that he stormed off the stage when they repeatedly cried out his famous catchphrase from Chappelle’s Show. The incident occurred during the height of the show’s popularity, in the summer of 2004. After storming off the stage, Chappelle returned to say “the show is ruining my life” and to lambaste the audience.
Later, Chappelle mysteriously left his show to visit Africa. The trip gave rise to rumors of substance abuse, allegations Chappelle has denied.
Since his December, 2007 comedy stunt in Hollywood, Chappelle has remained off the radar. Until now.
Chappelle is scheduled to make his second appearance on Inside the Actors Studio (he also appeared in 2005). The episode (scheduled to air Novembe 10) will celebrate the 200th episode of the Bravo series and take up two solid hours of programming. For this special event, Chappelle will co-host along with James Lipton. The two will discuss famous Hollywood citizens such as Tom Hanks, Will Smith, Julia Roberts and Angelina Jolie.
