Casting Corner: Young and the Restless, Sons of Anarchy and More

Here’s a quick look at some of the casting announcements made recently:

The Young and the Restless: Is CBS prepared for a visit from The Hoff? Later this June, David Hasselhoff will make a return to the show that helped launch his career. David will reprise the role of Dr. William “Snapper” Foster, Jr., his character on the soap from 1975 to 1982. “Being asked to come back to appear in several episodes gives me a chance to say thanks,” Hasselhoff said. “I just hope I can remember all those lines.”

Sons of Anarchy: Into the Wild‘s Hal Holbrook will climb aboard the hit FX series when it starts again in September. The Oscar nominee will play Gemma Taylor’s father Nate Madock, a man with Alzheimer’s who likes to watch Westerns. His four-episode stint will begin with the Season 3 premiere.

Californication: Actress Carla Cugino will add another “sexy” character to her resume. The Watchmen beauty will now be featured in the majority of the episodes next season as a “sexy defense attorney” hired by Hank Moody (David Duchovny) to help with his legal troubles. Filming on Season 4 has just begun.

Law & Order: Criminal Intent: An Academy Award winner will help close out the current season of the USA series. This July’s finale will include a visit from F. Murray Abraham (Amadeus), who’ll guest as Jeff Goldblum’s father. No word at this time what this appearance will mean for Detective Nichols.

Grey’s Anatomy: Will Mandy Moore be taking another walk to remember? The singer/actress has been booked for the show’s two-hour finale as a patient of Dr. Bailey’s. (No word on what she’ll be treated for…and if she’ll get a cure.) The season will close on May 20.

Rescue Me: ER star Maura Tierney will be coming back to television as Kelly McPhee, her guest role on the FX series. The actress, who had to drop out of NBC’s Parenthood when she was diagnosed with cancer, will appear in Season 7 episodes that are being filmed now. (The show’s sixth season don’t even start until later this summer.)
