Casting Corner: Modern Family, The Office and More

Here’s a quick look at some of the casting announcements made recently:

Modern Family: The ABC comedy hasn’t even premiered yet, but it’s already attracted an Oscar nominee. Edward Norton will cameo in one episode during sweeps. Norton - who is friends with cast member Ty Burrell (Phil) - will rock out as a bassist in a band hired for Phil’s anniversary party. Look for the Hulk star to appear sometime in November.

The Office: In just a few weeks, we’ll see a new face flying in all the way from Bon Temps. Anna Camp (True Blood‘s Sarah Newlin), who has been cast as Pam’s sister Penny, will be in attendance at the upcoming Niagra Falls nuptials. That ceremony is set to take place on October 8.

Ugly Betty: SPOILER ALERT!!! If you want to know what happened to Eric Delko on CSI: Miami, you might want to look in New York. Actor Adam Rodriguez is putting down the gun to play one of Hilda’s former beaus. “He’s an old high school boyfriend, and [he comes] back into their lives,” Adam revealed. Rodriguez - who’ll also appear in seven more CSI episodes - is currently slated for five weeks of Betty.

Psych: The Breakfast Club‘s Judd Nelson has graduated from high school “criminal” to CDC employee. The Brat Pack-er will guest on the USA series as Dr. Reidman, a Thornburg Disease specialist (a fictional ailment). Look for Nelson in Episode 12.

24: Night at the Museum‘s Rami Malek is just one of many new faces on the FOX drama this season. Malek has been tapped to play an Arab American who is a radical Islam sympathizer. Oh - and did I mention that he’s also a would-be suicide bomber?

Smallville: A Room with a View‘s Julian Sands will be featured in the CW series as an important figure in Superman’s life. The actor will portray a younger version of Jor-El, the superhero’s father. His appearance on Earth - which is connected to Zod’s - will happen in November.

Big Love: A big name will soon be joining Big Love. Oscar winner Sissy Spacek will be making waves in Washington D.C. as a powerful lobbyist. Her role will start in Week 3 and continue over several episodes.

Dollhouse: The Devil has left The CW and taken up residence on FOX. Ray Wise (Reaper) will now use his patented charm to play Howard, someone high up in the Dollhouse organization. If we’re lucky, Wise will have a recurring position on the program.
