Here’s a quick look at some of the casting announcements made recently:

Weeds: A Jagged Little Pill will be incorporated into the next season of Weeds. Alanis Morissette, who most recently guested on Nip/Tuck, will be donning more scrubs for the Showtime series. The singer will play Mary Louise Parker’s obstetrician for at least seven episodes and may even return next year. Meanwhile, Jennifer Jason Leigh (Margot at the Wedding) will be around for several episodes as Nancy’s older sister. Season 5 debuts on June 8.

The Tudors: Another vocalist will be getting an extended stay on Showtime. Joss Stone, who is currently appearing on The Tudors as Anne of Cleves, will live to see the fourth - and final - season of the show. (Anne, Henry VIII’s fourth wife, outlived the king’s five other spouses.) The third installment will have its finale on May 24.

Mad Men: The advertising drama will add some new blood later this year. Jared Harris (Benjamin Button‘s Captain Mike) is joining the Emmy-winning show as Lane Pryce, Sterling Cooper’s financial officer. Harris is currently set for a 10-episode arc. The AMC series will resume sometime in August.

Californication: A list of stars will be passing through the cable series this fall. Ed Westwick (Gossip Girl) and Eva Amurri (Saved!) have both signed on to play students of Hank Moody. Meanwhile, Rick Springfield, Kathleen Turner, Peter Gallagher and Embeth Davidtz are also slated to appear.

True Blood: Marilyn Manson’s on-and-off girlfriend, Evan Rachel Wood, will be returning to the small screen in a juicy role. The former Once and Again actress will reportedly play Sophie-Anne, the vampire Queen of Louisiana. Her two-episode stint, which could be carried over into Season 3, will air at the end of Season 2. Blood returns on June 14.

Nip/Tuck: Season 6 will see a Working Girl coming into town to visit her porn star daughter. Oscar-nominee Melanie Griffith, who briefly starred in the laughable Viva Laughlin, will play Brandie Henry, Kimber’s mother from Wisconsin. No premiere date has yet been announced.
