Casting Corner: Hawaii Five-O, CSI: Miami and More

Daniel Dae KimAdam Rodriguez

Here’s a quick look at some of the casting announcements made recently:

Hawaii Five-O: The pilot for CBS’ upcoming remake is already starting to flesh out. Lost‘s Daniel Dae Kim - an island expert - has been cast as Detective Chin Ho Kelly while Moonlight‘s Alex O’Loughlin (Steve McGarrett) will head the elite branch of Hawaii’s State Police. Hustle & Flow‘s Taryn Manning has joined the cast as Mary Ann McGarrett, Steve’s sister.

CSI: Miami: Ugly Betty may be coming to an end, but that doesn’t mean Adam Rodriguez will be without a job. Come next year, Hilda’s hunky boyfriend will be returning to his former CBS show full time. “Twit Fam, I have some news that I hope will make CSI:Miami fans happy. Eric Delko will be back to the show full time 4 all of season 9!!!” Rodriguez wrote on his Twitter account. Thank goodness - cute dimples should never go to waste.

Law & Order: SVU: Singer Jill Scott and Blind Side star Quinton Aaron are the latest stars booked for the NBC series. Later next month, Jill will appear as the aunt and caretaker of a rape victim while Quinton will play Scott’s son. The episode airs on March 24.

Two and a Half Men: Is Jon Cryer finally about meet his own match? According to Jim‘s Courtney Thorne-Smith has just been tapped to play Alan’s latest love interest. Unfortunately, her character - who will have a recurring presence - is being described as a “deeply neurotic, recently divorced mother of a rotten 16-year-old boy.” Sounds like a perfect pairing to me!

In Plain Sight: Mary McCormack will soon reunite with another former West Wing-er on her USA program. Richard Schiff’s recent stop will now be followed up by a visit from Allison Janney. Janney will be featured as another federal marshal who has difficulty getting along with Mary Shannon. The series returns March 31.
