Beauty And The Geek: ‘Super Geek’

It was the Sam and Nicole show once again this week on The CW’s Beauty and the Geek. This week’s episode started with Sam and Nicole’s return from the elimination room after handedly disposing of Katie and Luke. When the man-beauty and lady-geek reappeared to the rest of the teams, there was a decidedly unhappy reaction to their return. Whereas most teams are cheered and hugged, Sam and Nicole awkwardly stood in front of the crowd and smiled and clapped for themselves as they explained how happy they were to return. Sam once again explained how lucky it was that he had spent so much time studying.
Find out who went home this week, which team is slowly imploding and who won the superhero challenge after the jump.
The beauties and geeks quickly discovered that this week’s challenge would be the first “team challenge” in which one team would win and pick both teams that would go to the elimination room. The challenge? The beauties would develop a superhero character for themselves, including a back story and arch nemesis. The geeks would be challenged with creating a super-sexy costume for the girls to wear when they present their superhero to a group of comic book experts at the ComicCon convention in San Diego. Will nearly had a coronary when he heard they would be going to ComicCon as it had been a dream of his since he was a kid.
The beauties began to create their characters. Jasmine created “Princess Bedhead,” a superhero who uses a spray to put her enemies to sleep - she then kills them. Her enemy uses the power of the sun to stay awake and she fears caffeine because she is, of course, always sleepy. Shalandra’s superhero was rather uninspired. Natalie was almost orgasmic in her enthusiasm for her character which controls vines a la “Poison Ivy” and can contort in different ways via her vine bones. Erin created an underwater character who talks to dolphins and uses a surfboard shield and starfish weapon. Sam decided to, more or less, be himself and just hunk it up on stage as a model and “super good looking” guy. What was Jennifer’s character? Well, in a huge leap for the women’s lib movement, Jenn’s character hypnotizes her enemies with her boobs.
Jenn’s partner, big-eared Will, was completely discouraged by her shamefully shallow and stereotypically dumb character. While preparing the girls’ costumes, Will offhandedly mentioned how dumb he thought Jenn’s character was and said he was going to make a costume that would make her look fat. But guess what? Jenn just happened to have entered the room and overheard the whole thing. She asked to speak to Will and the two had it out over Will’s attitude. For being an ugly turd who is supposed to be learning how to be more socially acceptable, Will was very sarcastic and uncaring during the argument, looking to just brush the whole thing under the carpet.
Sam’s costume was no problem - Nicole decided to just have Sam go shirtless and wear very little else. In turn, Nicole decided to help the rest of the geeks use patterns and sewing machines to create costumes for the rest of the beauties. Poor Dave, who was already suffering from Josh’s comments before the previous elimination, was determined to work hard and better himself. Dave did everything he could, including working until 2:30 a.m., to make Jasmine’s costume the very best it could be. But in the end, the sewing machine was too much for him and he settled with what he had thus far.
At ComicCon, each geek introduced his/her beauty and their superhero. The beauties then posed and strutted there stuff down the runway to the panel where they then told their character’s story. Shalandra was the only beauty who really had difficulty presenting her character to the panel. Jasmine just continued to be adorably stupid when she described her “bedhead” character to the panel. They really enjoyed her cute-as-a-button presentation which came, despite her stage-fright, quite naturally. But the performance of the week, once again, went to the man-beauty, Sam. Sam came out to the panel and explained that his character got his powers at the biggest party of the year. At said party, he discovered George Hamilton’s spray-on tan which, apparently, had radioactive ingredients. Now Sam is “Metro Man” and fights off his enemies by break-dancing and deflecting bullets and lasers of his arms and abs.
The panel was thoroughly impressed with Sam’s performance and voted he and Nicole the winners. When it came to deciding who to send to elimination, it was a no-brainer. Sam and Nicole decided to turn two teams who had become very close, Jesse & Erin and Natalie & John, against each other. As usual, Erin took to crying and wholeheartedly disagreeing with the decision while, despite it being a game, admonishing Sam and Nicole’s decision to send friends to elimination. It’s a competition, honey. In elimination, the geeks would be answering questions about fashion while the beauties would answer questions about comic books. Natalie did very well, answering all of her questions correctly while Erin missed one. In the final moments of the competition, John answered his question correctly while Jesse missed the one that would have kept his team alive. So in the end, the bleach blondes, Jesse and Erin, could not survive elimination for a third time and were sent home. In an editorial note, Natalie and John’s pathetic attempt at sympathy made me sick.
Next week is a recap show. Of course, the preview for next week didn’t reflect that but the official website tells the true tale. Is there anything worse than turning on your favorite reality show and finding a recap episode? Uck! The week that follows, however, will find the whole gang in Mexico where it seems that Will and Jennifer hit the breaking point. Sparks will fly - so stay tuned!
