American Gladiators: The Finals
For many athletic competitors, bragging rights alone is reason enough to pit themselves against the toughest of the tough: the built, buff, brawny American Gladiators. But in this new incarnation of the show, those who have the guts (and chops) to face the Gladiators stand to win much more than a simple competitor’s claim. They will also walk away with a cool $100,000 and the right to join the Gladiators next year. But first, the four final competitors have to beat each other to gain the glory.
Confusingly, NBC has scheduled the finals not on Monday (the show’s usual night), but Sunday at 7 pm EST. The two semifinal rounds put competitors through more challenges than ever before, hinting the finals will test them at every single event the show offers.
NBC
The die has been cast, and the final four are ready to reach the pinnacle of their reality TV dreams. Alex Rai, 25, a history teacher and wrestling coach in California, has already displayed remarkable speed and willingness to win. Evan Dollard, 25, will try to stop Alex next Sunday. During his first round against the Gladiators, Dollard set a record time scaling the rock wall and blew everyone’s time away on the fearsome Eliminator. Tough-as-nails (and mom of twins) Monica Carlson, 32, racked up an impressive score during her semifinal round, besting Gladiators at nearly every turn and even shaving seconds off her own record-setting Eliminator time. ShaNay Norvell, 31, is an athletic trainer who never gives up, but she’ll have stiff competition in do-or-die Monica.
Some will walk away with the opportunity (and money) of a lifetime…others will just (try to) walk away. And yes, the show has definitely been renewed and will return next year - in fact, if you’re interested, NBC is already casting the next round of competitors. Check the official Gladiators site to find out how you can compete.
