2010 VMAs: Chelsea Handler’s Best Moments
Judging from the unkind comments in his blog, Perez Hilton wasn’t thrilled with Chelsea Handler as the VMA host…but the ratings tell a different tale. Sunday’s broadcast was the highest-rated VMA for MTV since 2002, a fact Handler herself pointed out to Perez on Twitter.
We think the numbers are well-earned. Chelsea Handler got the show off to great start with two very funny opening skits, one featuring a surprise Lindsay Lohan appearance (viewable in the video above). See more of Chelsea’s best VMA moments after the jump.
Handler arrived to the VMA set to the sounds of “Bad Romance,” the night’s most mentionable song, in a complete Lady Gaga-inspired stage show. Her hat (so heavy she needed assistance keeping it up) was so fabulous, we’re pretty sure Gaga is kicking herself for not thinking of it first. Watch the whole thing in the video above.
“My plan was to stay sober the entire night, but in an interesting twist I am as high as a kite,” she cracked during her monologue, which was peppered with tongue-in-cheek jokes. In between awards, clips of a meet-and-greet event (clearly staged for our benefit) celebrating the year’s New Artist nominees were shown. In the video above, Chelsea Handler is purportedly meeting Jason Derulo for the first time.
