MTV Turns 25—With Little Fanfare
A milestone for MTV—25 years (man, don’t I feel old?)! You would think MTV would pull out all the stops with an all-star celebration, a walk down memory lane, and oh-so-much-more. Looks like that’s not the case however, as MTV will be quietly celebrating their 25th. MTV premiered on August 1st, 1981 at midnight, with the first video by The Buggles’ (appropriately called “Video Killed the Radio Star”). Ah, I long for the good ‘ole days, when they actually played music videos!
Re-live some of the great moments of MTV at USA Today. Hey MTV—you don’t look a day over 20 to me!
