Jennifer BealsMary McDonnell

Here’s a quick look at some of the casting announcements made recently:

The Closer: Mary McDonnell has just lined up her next basic cable job. The Battlestar Galactica vet just has been cast as Christina Hatcher, head of the Force Investigation Division. Unfortunately for Brenda, this captain won’t exactly be a member of her fan club. McDonnell is slated to appear in several Season 5 episodes.

The Cleaner: Whoopi Goldberg will be leaving behind the drama of daytime TV for the gritty primetime version. Later this summer, the Oscar winner will guest in several episodes of the A&E drama. Goldberg, who’ll be playing Benjamin Bratt’s former sponsor, will first appear in Season 2’s premiere.

How I Met Your Mother: Look for All My Children‘s Rebecca Budig (Greenlee) to star as, Hollly, yet another one of Ted’s girlfriends. Could she be the woman we’ve all been waiting to meet? We might soon find out! Bachelor Bob’s better half will enter the scene near the end of this season.

Sons of Anarchy: Actor-singer-poet Henry Rollins will soon be stirring things up for the motorcycle club. Rollins is slated for a six-episode stint on the FX drama next fall. He’ll play an antagonist who “who poses a deadly threat.” The series resumes production on April 27.

Lie to Me: The freshman drama will be ramping up the tension when Jennifer Beals comes to town. The L Word actress will play Zoe Landau, an Assistant U.S. Attorney and Tim Roth’s ex-wife. Expect sparks to reignite when Beal surfaces on April 29.

The Office: Will Pam Beesly soon regret choosing Michael Scott over Dunder Mifflin? Maybe, maybe not. In the meantime, actress Ellie Kemper, a Citizen’s Brigade vet, will be responsible for the front desk and the new Xerox machine. No word at this point how long she’ll be around.

90210: Can you feel it coming in the air tonight? That’s because Lily Collins, the daughter of musician Phil Collins, will be making waves on the last two shows of the season (May 12 & 19). Lily will play a rival of Annie’s. Meanwhile, Sara Foster (D.E.B.S.) will be hitting up the zip code as Naomi’s sister.

Burn Notice: Does Miami need another hot body? Come next season, Moon Bloodgood (Journeyman) will get in on the action. Bloodgood will play a police detective who is intent on learning the truth about Michael. Production on the USA program’s third season began earlier this month.
