Wire to Wire aims to be your waiver wire resource for all of your fantasy basketball needs. It will dive into playing time trends, injury replacements, and even an occasional category specialist—all of which can be found on a typical waiver wire within your fantasy league at any given time.
Another injury in Washington seems to have opened up some playing time for a few guys who were struggling to get touches as early as a few weeks ago. If small-ball isn’t your thing, then take a gander at some of the “bigs” that we have going this week. One of them fell threw the cracks last week, so here’s hoping that he fell through your leagues’ as well.

On Saturday Cardinals 37 year old center fielder Jim Edmonds was dealt to the San Diego Padres for prospect third baseman David Freese.
“I’m kind of shocked but excited because I get to be in Southern California next to my family and play for a contending team in a beautiful ballpark,” Edmonds said during a conference call from his offseason home in Irvine.
Edmonds hit 12 home runs and had 53 RBI’s to go with a .252 batting average in 2007. 24 year old Freese hit .302 with 17 HR’s and 96 RBI’s for the Class A level Lake Elsinore Storm in 2007.

So, yeah, this is the debut of this column. I hope everyone likes it, as I’m filling in for Dennis Velasco and his “Fantasy Jump-Off,” because he has decided to take a leave of absence of sorts from the fantasy basketball world for bigger and better things. Best of luck to Dennis, and a big thanks from me and anyone who has ever worked with the guy or read his stuff and used it.
The Fig Cap: Now that is a sweet ‘do.

To send us to the weekend, I have to show you guys this video of Drew Gooden found over on ESPN.
Thanks to this clip, I know now the meaning of “Boss Up,” and that Drew rocks to Tears for Fears. Have a good one, all.
Well the grand announcement was made today, and there were quite a few surprises on the Mitchell steroid report. Among the names listed as steroid abusers were Roger Clemens, Andy Petitte, Miguel Tejada, Paul Lo Duca, Mo Vaughn, Randy Velarde, Eric Gagne, Troy Glaus, Tim Laker, and Gary Sheffield. This is definitely not good for the game, and is something that needs to be addressed by Bud Selig.
“Judge me by my work,” George Mitchell said. “Read the report. You will not find any evidence of bias, of special treatment of the Red Sox or anyone else, because there is none. That had no effect, none whatsoever, … on this report.”

Happy Monday, all.
I just wanted to draw your attention to our man Kelly Dwyer’s post over at Yahoo! that breaks down a list of players with more blocks this season than the Newest Knick, Zach Randolph.
His post breaks down just a few players from the Western Conference. And no, we’re not talking Tim Duncan and Yao Ming here…One name on the list? Dan Dickau. Seriously. Dan Dickau…of 10 minutes per night fame. Click Here for the rest, and a big thanks to whichever commenter pointed out that Daniel Gibson (six), all of 6’2” has three times the blocks that Randolph (two) has thus far.
Big thanks to Henry over at TrueHoop for the tip!
(Update: Here’s the link to the Eastern Conference)
