Randy Wittman to the RescueWire to Wire aims to be your waiver wire resource for all of your fantasy basketball needs.  It will dive into playing time trends, injury replacements, and even an occasional category specialist – all of which can be found on a typical waiver wire within your fantasy league at any given time.

All-Star week is coming up, and that means one or two game weeks for all of the Association.  Looking a bit forward, the Hawks, Bulls, Knicks and Kings all have schedules that max out their games played for a three-week stretch; two games next week, and back-to-back weeks of four games following.  While shallow leagues do not have a lot of recommendations from me this week, owners would be wise to add any fringe players of those four teams if they’d like a bit of an advantage in the short-run.

This week will be hit or miss with a lot of players, as they simply do not have the full week to give you production.  Here’s to a productive All-Star week for all involved.

On to this week’s recommendations…

Yao Ming can't play, but he can modelI am back like Jack Bauer! Unlike Jack’s dramatic return from a Chinese prison, I was freed (booted?) from my parent’s basement. Now semi-acclimated to life on my own (thank god for the microwave!), I am ready to make a contribution to Dropping Dimes. Thanks to Dennis, Sarge, and Alvin for holding down the DD fort.

What the heck did I miss? What is up with all the injuries to key fantasy players?! In all my years in fantasy basketball, I don’t remember a season where so many players have been knocked out with injuries like a Mirko Cro Cop high kick (He is going to wreck havoc in the UFC!). In one of my leagues, a GM lost his top four picks to injuries (Chris Paul, Yao Ming, Josh Smith and Rashard Lewis). The poor GM had his playoff hopes dashed in the month of December. Them’s the breaks. In this edition of the Injury Lowdown I will give a quick rundown of key injuries and some players to keep an eye on.

Eric Snow and Rasheed WallaceI was just checking out some web stuff before the Super Bowl and found this picture.  Thanks to MJD over at Deadspin, I now know that I’m not the only one that hates Eric Snow…

Enjoy the game, all.

Oh…and the Cavs lost on National Television…again.

Lebron vs. Jason KiddThank goodness for the Super Bowl. If you are having a tough year in your main fantasy basketball league like I am, maybe you welcome the distraction as well. After being inspired by Sarge’s one man rant on Eric Snow, I figured I would throw myself a pity party. Because I am in need of a new hobby to relax from my main hobby after the events of the last few weeks especially. So what’s been going on, you ask? If you are willing to be my Frasier, I am happy to take advantage of your listening skills.

If you are hoops junkie, you have more than a few fantasy teams. But one league usually stands out as the one that matters the most. And for me, this is the league that is kicking me to the curb right now.

1. My match-up of the week tends to light up every time, but just against me.

It was week 14 and my opponent sports Jason Kidd on his roster. I was in the playoff mix going into the week, and by the next Monday, I was on the outs looking in. Kidd did more than his fair share, dropping in triple doubles like there was no tomorrow. So what does he do this week when I need him to knock down a playoff contender for me? You guessed it: games of zero points/five turnovers, and a two assist game before that.
