Dime Day: Fantasy Trade Deadline
Posted by Alvin Lai Categories: H2H, Roto, Site Features, Trades,
Yawn. When Fred Jones for Juan Dixon is the biggest trade on deadline day, it generates about as much excitement as watching the kettle boil. At the risk of coming of as too “corporate,” check out this ESPN article that grades each team’s performance at the trade deadline here. Props to Bill Simmons for giving T-dot some love.
Was it not kind of interesting that the talk had been fantasy-esque?...Jason Kidd joining Kobe Bryant, trading a proven commodity like Pau Gasol for potential in Luol Deng and/or Ben Gordon. If your league commissioner has any smarts, your fantasy trading deadline comes up after the NBA’s. Granted, there is not much to adjust to this year, but in other years, some trades go down that have significant impact in fantasy circles. So what should be on your mind as fantasy hoops hits its stretch drive?

Stat’s All, Folks: Redd Is Back!
Posted by Dennis Velasco Categories: Disses, H2H, Injuries, Props, Rookies, Roto, Site Features, Waiver Pick Ups,
Thanks to All-Star weekend, there is a small sample size of games to draw from, so I’ll tweak it up a bit this week by highlighting players and giving you blurbs for each one. There will be no suggestions for players to keep an eye on or ones you shouldn’t believe the hype for. However, I think you’ll live and all will still be well in your fantasy basketball world… unless you own Dwyane Wade. Read on at your own discretion, but you may need some tissues.
Statistics are from February 16th – February 22nd
POINTSBULLISH
Michael Redd, SG, Milwaukee Bucks
Last Week’s Numbers of Note: 2 G; 27.5 PPG; 43.5 FG%; 72.7 FT%
Much to the relief of the Bucks and many fantasy owners alike, Redd is back on the court and he’s pretty much picking up where he left off. It was a little bit shaky in Redd’s first game back as he “only” scored 17 points shooting an ugly 7-for-18 from the field, but his performance the following night allayed any fear. On the second night of a back-to-back, Redd scored 38 points in 40 minutes, including hitting six three-pointers. That performance shows that Redd may be getting his game legs and wrists back sooner than later.

Wire to Wire aims to be your waiver wire resource for all of your fantasy basketball needs. It will dive into playing time trends, injury replacements, and even an occasional category specialist—all of which can be found on a typical waiver wire within your fantasy league at any given time.
Only a few nights back from All-Star weekend, and we’ve already had our first superstar go down with a major injury. All-World guard Dwyane Wade could miss up to six weeks with a separated shoulder. While this is truly unfortunate, it will provide a lot of opportunities for other players. Couple this with a few teams experiencing holes of their own, and we have ourselves yet another week of solid waiver wire potential.

Dropping Dimes Staff Rankings: Week 17
Posted by Alvin Lai Categories: H2H, Roto, Site Features, Talent,
This week, we forge ahead without the input of Ron Chow, who sent his regrets on not being able to send in his rankings. Week 17 consists of a six day week, as the NBA gives itself a long weekend during the all-star break. Happy Chinese New Year!
Teams and Number of Games for the Week:
Atlanta Hawks - 4; Boston Celtics - 4; Charlotte Bobcats - 4; Chicago Bulls - 4; Cleveland Cavaliers - 3; Dallas Mavericks - 2; Denver Nuggets - 3; Detroit Pistons - 4; Golden State Warriors - 3; Houston Rockets - 3; Indiana Pacers - 3; Los Angeles Clippers - 2; Los Angeles Lakers - 3; Memphis Grizzlies - 3; Miami Heat - 3; Milwaukee Bucks - 4; Minnesota Timberwolves - 4; New Jersey Nets - 3; New Orleans Hornets - 3; New York Knicks - 4; Orlando Magic - 4; Philadelphia 76ers - 3; Phoenix Suns - 4; Portland Trail Blazers - 3; Sacramento Kings - 4; San Antonio Spurs - 4; Seattle Supersonics - 3; Toronto Raptors - 3; Utah Jazz - 3; Washington Wizards – 4
POINT GUARDS
It seems that Nash, Kidd and Iverson were ranked based on the assumption that they will be back on the court after the all-star break, despite them skipping the all-star game itself.
1. Gilbert Arenas (1.00)
2. Steve Nash (2.00)
3. Chauncey Billups (3.00)
4. Ray Allen (5.67)
5. Jason Kidd (6.33)
6. Chris Paul (7.33)
7. Allen Iverson (7.67)
8. Kirk Hinrich (8.00)
9. Deron Williams (8.33)...seems strangely low, but it’s a tough top five to crack.
10. Mike Bibby (10.33)
11. Maurice Williams (11.33)
12. Stephon Marbury (12.00)
13. Andre Miller (14.00)
14. Jason Terry (16.33)...two game week limits totals, but not efficiency
15. Jameer Nelson (16.67)...had the flu just before the break.

In honor of the NBA’s All-Star Weekend, this week’s edition of Stat’s All Folks will turn into Stat’s All-Star Folks where I’ll hand out All-Star berths for the six main cumulative categories in fantasy basketball. I’ll cite the category leader as the starter and a value choice as a reserve. This value choice will be a player that I think has exceeded his expectations before the season started and/or will come on strong after the break.
Sarge, you’re welcome for the pic… everyone else, you’re welcome too. Just like the shots during the Three-Point Shootout, let’s get poppin’.
