We also call out all of the Russell Westbrook haters that want the Oklahoma City Thunder to trade their 22-year-old, vastly improving, and dominating-type of point guard because of an assumption that he cannot co-exist with Kevin Durant. Ridiculous. LISTEN up!

EndScore Report: NBA Conference Finals Predictions

In this excellent edition of EndScore Report, DV and Chris make their predictions in the NBA Conference Finals. In the east, we have the Derrick Rose-led Chicago Bulls versus LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, Chris Bosh, and the rest of the Miami Heat. In the west, Dirk Nowitzki and the Dallas Mavericks have had a long wait after sweeping the Los Angeles Lakers, but they finally have an opponent, the Oklahoma City Thunder led by the dynamic duo of Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook. DV and Chris have differing opinions on the conference winners, LISTEN to find out whom they selected!

EndScore Report: Western Conference NBA Playoffs Preview

DV and Chris delve into each series of the Western Conference NBA Playoffs with the San Antonio Spurs versus the Memphis Grizzlies, Los Angeles Lakers against the New Orleans Hornets, Dallas Mavericks versus Portland Trail Blazers, and Oklahoma City Thunder versus the surging Denver Nuggets. Once again the Spurs are one of the favorites to take the west led by the trio of Tony Parker, Manu Ginobili, and Tim Duncan. However, Kobe Bryant, Pau Gasol, and the rest of the Lakers are the defending champs. The Dallas Mavericks came close to a title several years ago and the Oklahoma City Thunder look like they'll be contenders for several years with the core duo of Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook. Who takes the Western Conference series? Peep the opinion of DV and Chris!

Kobe Bryant leading the way for the 2011 NBA All-Star game

Kobe Bryant of the Los Angles Lakers is leading the overall voting for the 2011 NBA All-Star game, which is appropriate considering that the game will be played at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. Others leading the way for the Western Conference are Chris Paul at the one-guard, Kevin Durant and Carmelo Anthony at the forwards, and oddly, Yao Ming at center. Yao has been out for a bit now due to another injury issue and won't play in the game at all. When the coaches make their reserve selections, one of them will start in Yao's place. In the East, the leading guards in voting are Rajon Rondo and Dwyane Wade with LeBron James and Kevin Garnett in the lead in voting for forwards, and Dwight Howard at the five spot. The official starters will be named on January 27.

Lost amidst the wave of NBA free agency that has been drowning NBA news sites/blogs, Kevin Durant extended his contract with the Oklahoma City Thunder, re-upping for five more additional years. It is reported to be for five years and $85 million, a bargain considering the potential and upside that Durant still possesses as a 21-year-old that just led the NBA in scoring with a 30.1 PPG average. The Thunder finished with 50 wins last season and made the postseason for the first time as the Thunder (formerly being the Seattle SuperSonics) and are on an upward trajectory for which a huge part of it has been because of Durant.

2010 NBA Midseason Awards

The first half of the season has brought many surprises and stories. The Lakers stand atop the NBA with a 37-12 record, and there’s a five-way race between Carmelo Anthony, Kevin Durant, LeBron James, Kobe Bryant, and Dwayne Wade for the scoring title. With much of the second half of the season left to play, there’s still a lot of basketball to determine who’s most deserving of the NBA’s prestigious individual awards. However, if the season ended today, here’s how things might shape up.
Most Valuable Player Award
LeBron James, Cleveland Cavaliers - While plenty of arguments can be made for Kobe Bryant, the Cleveland Cavaliers aren’t worth much without King James. While his turnovers could be lower (3.6 per game), he’s averaging 29.5 ppg, 7.1 rbpg and 8.0 apg, while shooting over 50% from the field. He’s also improved his shooting from beyond the arc to a more than respectable 36%.

NBA Fantasy Alphabet: Western Conference, Week 2
I appreciate musical mash-ups. Fantasy Alphabet will be my mash-up combining articles that look at hot waiver wire pick-ups, players of the week, and notable injuries. The format will consist of quick hits focusing on one player per team, and arranged in alphabetical order to help make quick scanning easier.
Dallas Mavericks: Erick Dampier. It looks like one crazy season ahead if Dampier can generate significant fantasy buzz. Since arriving in Dallas, he has never averaged double digits in points or rebounding, but so far he is doing just that. He has also pumped up his shot-blocking. Consider him as a sneaky play for the short-term as he could net you wins in the big ball categories (he has also been shooting 66%!), but the long-term outlook remains capped on the low side.

There are plenty of reasons for NBA fans to be interested in the Northwest Division with several captivating stories to pique their interest. For starters, will the Utah Jazz go with Carlos Boozer as its starting power forward, or will it opt for up-and-comer Paul Millsap, thereby making Boozer expendable? Will Chauncey Billups be able to continue the great leadership role he exhibited with the Denver Nuggets last season? Will Greg Oden make strides to becoming a top flight NBA center? Will Al Jefferson and Kevin Love be able to coexist in Minnesota? Will Russell Westbrook of the Oklahoma City Thunder be able to become a true point guard?

Fantasy NBA: Analysis of First Round
The one-man mock draft has been fun, but as “one man” writing, I would be lucky to get deep into the fourth round before the season opens. Thus, the focus will shift on topics such as analyzing average draft position (or ADP), which will hopefully benefit those still yet to draft.
Fantasy basketball writing, in general, is still dominated by emphasis on roto leagues. Let us take a look at typical first round selections, but from a head-to-head standpoint. Comments will be geared towards a H2H league that employs the standard nine categories (FG%, FT%, 3PTM, Pts, Rebs, Ast, Stl, Blk and TO).

One Man Mock Draft, Fantasy NBA 2009: Round 1, Pick 7
LeBron James and Chris Paul represent the top tier in fantasy basketball this season. Both deserve to own top dog status, and arguing vehemently for one over the other is like splitting hairs. Dwyane Wade, Kobe Bryant, Kevin Durant and Dwight Howard were penciled in as the heart of the lineup in the first round and represent the second tier. Wade currently leads the pack for the third pick overall, and perhaps Dwight has the least chance of going so high since his negative roto buzz sometimes crosses over into other league formats. I believe he deserves to be a high draft pick in a head-to-head league. That means the third tier starts here.
