KobeQuick, stop the presses!  Kobe Bryant scored a ton of points again!  This time, 51 points versus the Phoenix Suns!  And guess what?  The Los Angeles Lakers STILL lost!  Surprise, surprise, surprise.  It’s obvious that Bryant either a) has never met a shot he didn’t want to go Terminator on and shoot it or b) he needs a better wing-man… is Maverick or Iceman available?  Seriously, Lamar Odom this is an open challenge to you for the rest of this season and for next - step up.  No, I’m not talking about your game because it’s widely known and chronicled that you got, as Tim Hardaway would say, “skeelz.”  No, step up to Kobe and say that he needs to share the ball more for the team to be more successful and diverse. As or right now, your Lakers have a slim lead for the final playoff spot in the West over the New Orleans/Oklahoma City Hornets.  I’m thinking you’ll make the playoffs.  However, I’d expect a first round elimination since your potential playoff opponents know the basic formula - let Kobe get his points, let him shut every one of his own teammates out by taking a ton of shots or holding the rock too long trying to create a shot for himself, and they’ll win.  You’ll probably go up against the defending NBA Champion San Antonio Spurs, so it’ll be a quick exit and entrance to playing golf again.  However, Lamar, it doesn’t have to be a fruitless playoff series.  You can always ask Tony Parker if his girlfriend, Eva Longoria, has a sister.

Chauncey Billups comes from a strong gene poolAfter watching the Detroit Pistons versus Miami Heat match-up last night, I learned an interesting fact about PG Chauncey Billups.  He is actually related to potential first round draft pick running back Lendale White from USC.  That is some scary talent in their family’s gene pool.  The most potent family duo has to be Vince Carter and Tracy McGrady; they must have just destroyed their friends and kids in the park when they were youngsters.  After watching the NCAA tournament and seeing a number of impact players being second generation stars, such as Joakim Noah be the best player in the tournament, his dad is ex-tennis star Yannick Noah.  Joakim’s Florida teammate,  Taurean Green is also a second generation basketball player, his dad is ex-NBA player Sidney Green.  For all you aspiring ball players, if you find yourself falling short on the playground, I feel for you - maybe you just weren’t born with it.

NBA Bans Stocking Tights

Posted by Jeff Chan Categories: NBA,

After complaining about the full-length spandex earlier in March in this article, to our delight, the NBA has put a stop to stocking tights.  What is surprising though is that the majority of the country doesn’t agree with the decision.  In an ESPN poll, over 86,661 voters have cast their opinions.  The result were over 76% of the fans don’t mind them, and 24% were glad to see them go.

Mike James and the rim have a speical loveThe Toronto Raptors lost to the New Orleans Hornets last night in 2 OT, despite a strong game by Charlie Villanueva who had 25 points and 18 rebounds.  He was overshadowed by rookie sensation Chris Paul who had a triple double.  Mike James, who has been outstanding this year averaging 19.3 PPG clanked from the field going 5-25.  Here are James’ thoughts:

“Sometimes me and the rim just don’t agree,” James said. “For 20 of the shots tonight me and the rim weren’t really on good terms. I think I did something to her last night. I normally treat her good, talk to her nice. I don’t ever curse her out, but tonight maybe she was a little mad at me, but that’s all right. I’m going to give her flowers and candy before the next game.”

Hopefully next game, James and the basket have made up by then.

Indiana Pacers great Reggie Miller hangs number 31 in the raftersReggie Miller was given the highest honor a team can give to one of it’s players, as his number 31 was retired.  Miller is the only NBA player of the Pacers organization to have his number retired, as the other Pacers are from the ABA days.  The ABA stars are Roger Brown, Mel Daniels and George McGinnis and former coach Bobby “Slick” Leonard.  On hand were some of Miller’s old teammates: Antonio Davis, Dale Davis, Derrick McKey, Chuck Person, and Mark Jackson - but sadly no Detlef Schrempf.  Miller was booed on drafted day by Pacers fans, but clearly Donnie Walsh made the right selection in the 1987 draft.  Want to compare some of the other players that came out of the draft after him?  Then G.M. Donnie Walsh and Reggie Miller made a career out of proving the critics wrong since draft day.

New Jersey Nets are on FireLast night the New Jersey Nets put on a highlight show against the Phoenix Suns and beat them by 38 points.  The outcome of the game was never in doubt, as they led for by over 30 points for the majority of the game.  This was the second of back to back games against elite opponents.  On Sunday night the Nets defeated the Detroit Pistons on the road in impressive fashion.  A key to their recent nine game winning streak is the play of C Nenad Krstic, who is turning this Nets team into the “Big Four” instead of the Big Three of Jason Kidd, Vince Carter and Richard Jefferson.  If Nets management has their eyes on Kevin Garnett for next-year, the players sure haven’t been distracted, they are focused on making noise and contending right now.

Bruce Bowen and Ray Allen feudingLast year in the playoffs, the San Antonio Spurs were given a tough fight from the surprising Seattle SuperSonics in the second round on their way to the 2005 championship.  San Antonio’s top defender Bruce Bowen had the assignment of guarding All-Star Ray Allen.  Allen went as far to call Bowen’s defense of flopping and dirty plays “sissy basketball.”  Last night the Sonics and Spurs faced off again, and the feud escalated.  As Bowen drew an offensive foul on Allen, both players fell to the floor, where Bowen gave Allen an extra kick to Allen’s back.  Allen got the last laugh for the night as he hit a three point shot in the closing seconds to give the Sonics a close win over the Spurs 106-102.

Paul Pierce has been clutch as of lateThis past week has been great for all fantasy owners of Paul Pierce, and it has also translated into wins for the Boston Celtics as well.  Not only has Pierce been putting up monster numbers, but also delivering in the clutch.  This past week Pierce has been dueling with Gilbert “I’ll make the Eastern Conference pay!” Arenas, Kobe Bryant, Allen Iverson and Lebron James all to exciting finishes at the end of the game.  Pierce has set a Boston Celtic record by averaging 33.5 points per game in February, the most in Boston Celtic history for a given month.  Yes, even more than the great Larry Bird.  This is an amazing turn around for Pierce, who was being discussed during the trade deadline.  Even the Clippers at one time this season were rumored to be linked to Pierce, but I guess now we’ll never know.

Dwayne Wade leg-warmersMiami has had its original uniforms since their inception, so where did the design of these uniforms come from?  Same goes for the Washington uniforms, where did this design come from?  Continuing on fashion, the NBA needs to do something about the leg stocking that is worn by Dwayne Wade in this picture, Kobe Bryant and a few others.  I know they are just trying to keep their legs warm so they don’t cramp up, but since David Stern plays fashion police all the time, something needs to be done about this.  The required attire for gym class is a shirt, shorts and sneakers - leg warmers are not part of the wardrobe unless this is ballet class.  My last fashion rant is, why do the Chicago Bulls and New York Knicks have special St. Patricks Day basketball jerseys?  The NBA keeps producing ridiculous products just to generate money.  I realize their is a strong Irish population among these cities, and the first St. Patricks day parade was actually held in New York City but the holiday has nothing to do with basketball. You can see a couple of images of this atrocity after the jump.

Darko's got the stuff baby, put him in the gameThe Darko Milicic watch doesn’t stop.  Here at EndScore we are just like 1010 WINS AM news, “You give us 22 minutes, we’ll give you the world.”  Well, this must be the mindset of Darko these days, coach just give me 22 minutes of playing time, I’ll show the world I’m not a bust.  The Serbian gangster has a lot to prove going ahead of D. Wade, Carmelo, and Chris Bosh.  The memories I have of Darko Milicic is during his rookie year playing for Detroit, the time when he was sporting the blond hair.  I was with a buddy of mine right behind the Pistons bench, as they were playing the New Jersey Nets at the Meadowlands.  At the time it was a close game, and during a time out, coach Larry Brown was apparently yelling at either Rasheed Wallace or Chauncey Billups for I guess not going over a screen in a pick-and-roll, or shooting with 5 seconds left on the shotclock instead of 4 seconds, with Brown almost about to have a stroke.  Instead of listening to Brown’s instructions for a diagrammed play (or his incessant yelling, I can’t remember), Darko was just checking out the Nets dancing girls, totally lost in their aura.  Well, Darko is going to prove all the critics wrong (hopefully.)  So far in six games with the Orlando Magic, Darko is almost getting his 22 minutes, he is playing 20 minutes, grabbing 6 rebounds and 2 blocks a game.  You go boy, that’s the Serbian gangster we’ve come to love.  Darko’s getting love from the Utah Jazz press as well, check it out.  I was shocked to read his quotes I didn’t realze Darko can talk either, I’ve never heard the guy speak before.
