Warriors Make History, Defeat Number One Seed Mavericks
Posted by Chris Pereira Categories: Athletes, NBA, News, Playoffs, Scoreboard,
Avery Johnson said all the pressure was on the Warriors. With a game 7 in Dallas looming, there was most assuredly plenty of pressure to be had. But you wouldn’t have known that from watching the Warriors on Thursday night. In their second straight game with a chance to eliminate the Mavs, the Warriors took care of business in the second half and finished off Mark Cuban’s club, 111-86, taking the series in six games.
It’s already been herald as the biggest upset in NBA playoff history. The Warriors were not given a chance in this series by anyone – but that didn’t stop them from becoming only the third eight-seed team to ever eliminate a number one seed in the playoffs, and the first team to accomplish this since the first round turned to a seven game series in 2002.
