Jose Bautista and Mark Teixeira heating up in the home run race
Posted by Adrien Griffin Categories: Athletes, MLB,
The home run race has been tight all season long, and right now, the Toronto Blue Jays' Jose Bautista clings to a one-homer lead over Mark Teixeira of the New York Yankees. Bautista is the reigning home run king, and he and Teixeira have a comfortable lead over the rest of the pack in baseball. Bautista has had trouble getting the ball out of the park lately, while Teixeira has been hitting them with ease, so it’s not unrealistic to think we may soon have a new leader soon. If Teixeira can hold the lead for longer than a day, he’ll be the first person to do that to Bautista in over a year.

Slumping San Francisco Giants losing ground to Arizona Diamondbacks
Posted by Adrien Griffin Categories: Athletes, MLB,
The San Francisco Giants have been anything but worthy defenders of their World Series championship lately. They’ve lost more than they have won lately and have seen a somewhat comfortable lead in the NL West over the Arizona Diamondbacks shrink to a mere half game. The latest insult came on Thursday night when Cliff Lee – who last pitched against the Giants as a member of the Texas Rangers in the Fall Classic – shut them down and kept them off the scoreboard, handing them their ninth loss in 14 games.

The New York Mets have suddenly become one of the hottest teams in baseball, despite having recently traded players such as closer Francisco Rodriguez and center fielder Carlos Beltran. The Mets have won five in a row including a sweep over the Cincinnati Reds and are quickly closing the gap between them and the NL wild card leaders from the Atlanta Braves. They’ll welcome the Braves to New York next weekend and again for the final weekend in August.

Heath Bell trade will set market value for league’s relievers
Posted by Adrien Griffin Categories: Athletes, MLB, Trades,
Heath Bell looks like one of the most attractive players who may be available at this year’s non-waiver trade deadline. Reports are coming out of most cities saying that team so-and-so has inquired about Bell, but does that mean San Diego Padres GM Jed Hoyer is likely to trade him? Not necessarily. Many GMs will call Hoyer simply to find out the asking price for Bell, many of whom have no interest in actually putting together a deal.

The Texas Rangers are shooting them down in the AL West. The Philadelphia Phillies are not having as easy a time in the NL East. The NL Central, well, what has gotten into the Pittsburgh PIrates? In the NL West, the defending World Series champion San Francisco Giants are holding up. LISTEN UP!

Trade discussions are popping up all over the place with the MLB non-waiver trade deadline fast approaching, and one of the top names circling those discussions is that of Ubaldo Jimenez, the hard-throwing righty with the Colorado Rockies. The Rockies don’t look to be going anywhere this season and shopping Jimenez around may land them a few solid pieces toward a rebuild or at least a restructuring of the lineup for the next few years.

Posted by Dennis Velasco Categories: Athletes, Editorial, MLB, News, NFL,
In this edition of "In Your Face," we call out the US government for their mishandling of the case versus Roger Clemens. Great job, prosecution. We also call out Pittsburgh Steelers defensive stalwart, James Harrison for making disparaging comments about Rashard Mendenhall, Ben Roethlisberger and NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell. In your faces! EndScore Report: What To Do With Jose Reyes
Posted by Dennis Velasco Categories: Athletes, Front Office, MLB, Rumors, Trades,
It's been a while, but EndScore Report is back! However, the question to ask is whether or not Jose Reyes will be back with the New York Mets, both after the MLB trade deadline or after the season. This edition was recorded on July 6th, but the content still holds strong, such as speaking on the possibilities of where Reyes will call home in the immediate and long-term future. For example, can he eventually replace Derek Jeter and take over as the shortstop for the New York Yankees? It's a hot topic among Mets fans since Reyes has been playing out of his mind thus far this season. LISTEN to what Chris has to say about the best player on his favorite team.

With that begins all the end-of-season races, from playoff pushes to individual awards to even the trade deadline. One of the more interesting races to watch is for the American League MVP which, right now, is a two-horse race between the Boston Red Sox’s Adrian Gonzalez and Toronto Blue Jays’ Jose Bautista.
