Swimmer Ian Thorpe will Retire After ‘08 Olympics
Ian Thorpe, a superb swimmer from Australia, will call it quits after the 2008 Olympics, at the ripe old age of 25. Thorpe, nick-named the “Thorpedo” was outstanding in the 2004 Olympics in Athens, Greece, where he picked up two gold medals and a silver for participating in a riveting four man relay race against Michael Phelps and the United States team. He has placed a total of nine times in the Olympics, including five gold medals, three silver medals and one bronze medal.
