Reggie Wayne Resigns with the Indianapolis Colts but what about Edgerrin James?
Reggie Wayne signed a six-year contract extension that is worth approximately 40 million. The Colts still can use their franchise tag to use on Edgerrin James, but will most likely part ways. Wayne has thrived as the second receiver in the Colts attack, perhaps realizes this is the best situation for him, rather than going to a weaker team where he can be focused on by the opposing defense.
The Colts will invest a day one draft pick on a running back, and will probably have their eye on Jamal Lewis, formerly of the Baltimore Ravens who is now a free agent. The Ravens have confidence in Lewis’ replacement Chester Taylor. DeShaun Foster and reigning MVP Shaun Alexander are also on the market. Even with all these big name running backs entering free agency, unfortunately there really isn’t much a market for them, unless they consider signing with a terrible team. The teams in need of a running back are the Green Bay Packers, Arizona Cardinals, and San Fransisco 49ers. The only enticing places to play are perhaps for the Minnesota Vikings, or Carolina Panthers, if they decide to upgrade over Deshaun Foster.
