Vin Baker: Drunk Driver
Former NBA player and one-time “possible next great forward” Vin Baker was charged with drunk driving earlier this morning while leaving a casino. Baker, 35, was a four-time NBA All Star, and in 2000 was a member of the gold medal USA Basketball team. During his later years with the Bucks, Baker was a solid 20-10 player, and part of a trade which saw him sent to Seattle and Shawn Kemp sent to Milwaukee. (At the time, both teams thought they were dumping a player in rapid decline for a more reliable one they could build a franchise around—whoops!)
Baker was pulled over for erratic driving and failed the sobriety test, which is something I’m sure he’s used to by this point. Police spokesman Lt. J. Paul Vance cited Baker as being very cooperative. I obviously wasn’t there, but I’d like to pretend Vin’s statement read, “It feels good to be mentioned again so close to the NBA Finals.”
