Shame on the Boston Bruins. Tyler Seguin didn’t play in any games during the first two rounds of the playoffs. Knowing that the Tampa Bay Lightning would be a tougher team than any they’d faced so far, they added Seguin to the roster for the Eastern Conference Finals. In his two games in the lineup, Seguin has three goals and three assists already, including a four-point explosion in the second period of Game 2.

The Bruins won the wild game by a 6-5 score, scoring five times in the second period alone on only nine shots. Steven Stamkos and Dominic Moore added third period goals for the Lightning, but they fell short in the end. There was no answer for Seguin’s youth and speed. He split the Tampa defense and faked-out Dwayne Roloson for his first goal, then six minutes later he and Nathan Horton turned a 2-on-1 rush into another goal.

So far, Seguin has only logged 23 minutes and nine seconds of ice-time but already finds himself tied for third among his teammates in goals and 10th in points. Chances are good that Claude Julien will keep the 19-year-old centerman in the lineup for a few more games, giving him the chance to become a team leader – at least on the score sheet. After seeing the fancy moves he displayed in Game 2, the Lightning will need to revamp their strategy during Wednesday’s off-day.

The loss snapped an eight-game winning streak for the Lightning. During that stretch, they outscored opponents 34-16. Roloson’s league leading 2.04 goals against average was obliterated, prompting his removal from the game after two periods. The series shifts now to Tampa Bay where the Lightning look to use home ice to their advantage. So far, they’re 3-2 at home. The Bruins are 4-1 on the road. Seguin will continue to try being a game-changer while the Lightning will attempt to try and stop him.
