A waivers addition for the Tampa Bay Rays, Gabe Gross, hit a walk-off solo home run in the bottom of the 10th inning on Sunday, to give the Rays a 4-3 victory over the Chicago White Sox.

“I’ve never really thought about hitting a walk-off. But if I had, it wouldn’t have lived up to this,” said Gross. Gabe went 2-4 with three RBI on the day.

The Rays aren’t looking like flukes this late into the season. Their now 35-22, in first place in the AL East division.

“We’re getting to the point now where we’re not satisfied with yesterday’s win,” Rays manager Joe Maddon said. “It’s a whole team effort right now. … I think every night we go out there is a good barometer. There are no breaks (in the schedule).”

After the loss, Sox manager Ozzie Guillen expressed his anger to the media.

“I expect (general manager) Kenny (Williams) to do something Tuesday. Because if we don’t do anything Tuesday, there’s (going to be) a lot of change in the lineup. That’s all I’m going to say about the offense,” said Guillen.

His White Sox have now dropped their last three games, and are in first place in the AL Central by just one game. Earlier in the week, Guillen made his disdain for his team’s clubhouse antics known.

‘I’m not paid to be their baby sitter. It’s like having 25 guys in a cage. You can only do so much. They’re grown men and if something is going to happen, then I’ll put my nose in it. If not, then my coaches and staff have to handle it the best they can because I’m not that good to have my eyes everywhere. That’s the way we do stuff here,” said Guillen.

Comments:

man Chicago last man I wanted them to win

wow, I am still shocked that Tampa Bay is leading the AL East… maybe they are for real?  I don’t see how they can end the season on top though, with the Yankees and Red Sox lurking behind them

People still watch baseball? I though with the Stanley Cup playing thats all there was.
