Ravens Fire Brian Billick

Description
Baltimore Ravens head coach Brian Billick was fired on Monday. The Ravens had a dismal 2007 football season, finishing up with a 5-11 record. The Ravens finished in 4th place in the AFC North Division. Of course, there are only 4 teams in the AFC North Division. Ravens kicker Matt Stover was not critical of the Ravens’ front office decision to dismiss Billick.

“I’m not saying I agree with it,” kicker Matt Stover said of Billick’s dismissal, “but sometimes things have to change.”

Other players on the team had varying responses. Linebacker Bart Scott thought the problem with the 2007 Ravens was injuries.

“This year the injury bug not only hit us, (it) hit our prime-time players,” Scott said.

Throughout his career Billick had maintained success, with the Ravens organization Brian had an 80-64 record. The 2007 Ravens will perhaps be best known for giving the New England Patriots a run for their money with a close 24-27 loss. They were also the first (And only) team in the NFL to lose to the Miami Dolphins. The Ravens lost that game 22-16 in overtime. After that game Billick remarked, “It’s very tough to go for all or nothing.” Unfortunately the 2007 Ravens will be remembered for the latter.
