Sidney Crosby had 2 assists en route to an easy 3-1 victory over the New York Rangers. Also contributing to the Pittsburgh Penguins victory was Marion Hossa who scored a goal, as well as Evgeni Malkov and Max Talbot, each scoring goals. Marc-Andre Fleury was top notch in the winning effort, saving 26 of 27 attempted shots.

“I can’t wait for about 10 days, to start this thing (the playoffs),” said Max Talbot. “It’s good that it’s all (division) games like this until the end of the season. Every little play can change the game and that’s playoff hockey, and that’s what we’re in right now.”

The lone Rangers goal came off the stick of Brandon Dubinsky. Dubinsky continues to have a solid rookie campaign, scoring 13 goals and dishing out 24 assists. After the game, Brendan Shanahan wasn’t too happy with the outcome of the game.

“The story of the game to me was penalties,” Shanahan said. “Half of our offensive forwards kill penalties, the other sit on the bench and get cold. Either way you have half the team tired, the other half cold.”

Ryan Whitney of the Pens likes his team’s odds to win in the post-season.

“We control our own destiny to win the conference,” Ryan Whitney said. “If we can win out, we finish first in the conference and that’s been our goal all year.”
