East Coast Wins NBA All Star Game
Thanks in part to 5 3-pointers from Boston Celtic Ray Allen, the East Coast prevailed in the 2008 NBA All Star Game in New Orleans. Dwight Howard scored 16 points and Lebron James had 27 buckets to help out in the winning effort. Missing from the West Coast lineup was Kobe Bryant, who because of an injury was limited to playing just 2 minutes in the first quarter.
East Coast point guard Jason Kidd scored just one basket but dealt out 10 assists, in possibly his last game associated with the New Jersey Nets organization. News was revealed before the game that his trade to the Dallas Mavericks was nearly completed.
In a game focused more on scoring style points than actual points, Brandon Roy scored 18 points and nabbed 10 rebounds for the West Coast, their top performer of the night. Other notable performers were Carlos Boozer, who scored 14 points coming off the bench for the West, hometown hero Chris Paul who had 14 assists and 16 points, and Rasheed Wallace who (Don’t ask me why) attempted 5 3-pointers tonight, completing only 1 of 5.
Lebron James took home the MVP honors, and successfully helped lead the East Coast All Stars to retribution against the West Coast All Stars, after losing 153-132 in the All Star game last year.
