Chicago Bulls Fire Scott Skiles
Scott Skiles paid for the 9-16 record of the Chicago Bulls on Wednesday by losing his job. The Bulls last game was a 116-98 loss at the hands of the Houston Rockets. The Bulls were booed heavily throughout the game from the 22,434 in attendance. After the game Bulls center Ben Wallace said he would welcome a front office change.
“That’s one of those things that goes along with this league,” said Wallace. “Change is not always bad. If everybody wants to be here we have to step it up and go out there and play basketball.”
There were many high expectations for the Bulls entering the 07-08 season, but it seems it would take a major turnaround for this team to make the playoffs. The Bulls are 10 games back in the Central standings behind the first place Detroit Pistons. Chicago Bulls general manager Bill Paxson doesn’t yet have a coach to replace Skiles.
“I don’t have a long-term solution as of today,” Paxson said. “I’m disappointed in the way we’re playing, the way we’re competing, the energy or lack thereof that we’re playing with on the floor. I know expectations coming into the year were really, really high and we’re not even close to those. I honestly believe we’re a better team than we’ve played this year.”
