Orlando Magic Trade Steve Francis to the New York Knicks
After hearing all the rumors, the deal came to fruition. The Orlando Magic trades away unhappy guard Steve Francis to the New York Knicks for a familiar face in Penny Hardaway and Trevor Ariza. Hardaway, who had a bright start to his career in the mid 90’s playing for the Orlando Magic, will return back to the land of the Magic Kingdom. Magic fans can dust their old Penny Hardaway jerseys off the shelves. The Knicks front office will most likely continue to keep on the phones and try to find a suitor for Jamal Crawford and/or Quentin Richardson. I would not imagine even the most optimistic of Knick fans would see this trade as a move that can turn the teams fortune around, but at least it will be an interesting soap opera, watching how Marbury, Francis, and Jalen Rose share the ball. By not trading away Channing Frye, most of Isiah Thomas’ critics will have to put their sharp tongues on hold for the time being. At least this trade keeps the sexual harassment accusations out of the headlines for Thomas.
