No matter who you’re voting for in this year’s election, you should be able to trust journalists, and the news they’re reporting to you. Almost 70 percent of people polled think the media is trying to help Barack Obama win. Here’s another example of media bias.

An AP report on AOL wrote Sarah Palin Says Obama Pals With Terrorist.  The article goes on to say, Republican Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin on Saturday accused Presidential candidate Barack Obama of “palling around with terrorists” because of an old association with a former ‘60s radical, stepping up an effort to portray Barack Obama as unacceptable to American voters.

Palin’s reference was to Bill Ayers, one of the founders of the group the Weather Underground. Its members took credit for bombings, including nonfatal explosions at the Pentagon and U.S. Capitol, during the Vietnam War era. Obama, who was a child when the group was active, served on a charity board with Ayers several years ago and has denounced his radical views and activities.

In an interview with CBS News earlier in the week, Palin didn’t name any newspapers or magazines that shaped her view of the world. On Saturday, she cited a New York Times story that detailed Obama’s relationship with Ayers.

Summing up its findings, the Times wrote: “A review of records of the schools project and interviews with a dozen people who know both men, suggest that Mr. Obama, 47, has played down his contacts with Mr. Ayers, 63. But the two men do not appear to have been close. Nor has Mr. Obama ever expressed sympathy for the radical views and actions of Mr. Ayers, whom he has called “somebody who engaged in detestable acts 40 years ago, when I was 8.”

The New York Times forgot to mention that in an interview published on, of all dates, Sept. 11, 2001, Ayers said, “I don’t regret setting bombs…I feel we didn’t do enough.” Obama was the first chairman of the Chicago Annenberg Challenge, a school-reform group of which Ayers was a founder. Ayers also held a meet-the-candidate event at his home for Obama when he first ran for office in the mid-1990s. They also sat on a board together called The Woods Foundation.

In February of this year, Obama’s campaign architect, David Axelrod told Politico’s Ben Smith in February: “Bill Ayers lives in his neighborhood. Their kids attend the same school. ... They’re certainly friendly, they know each other, as anyone whose kids go to school together.”

The New York Times and the AP are not telling the truth about their connections. I lost my only brother because of terrorism, and the fact that the media ignores stories like this is disgusting in my opinion. The public deserves to know the truth about the candidates radical ties…especially in the midst of probably the country’s most important election ever. Who people have chosen to associate with throughout their lives says a lot about the kind of choices someone will make.

It’s sad that I have to search more than one article from multiple sites, piece the stories together, then do fact checks, just to learn what I’m reading is honest, and unbiased. I also find it sad that I’ve yet to find one media outlet that reports news that I could trust 100 percent.
