alan wake limited edition sale

Amazon's got a killer deal on the Alan Wake Limited Edition bundle, and we had to pass it on to you guys as a 2010 Holiday Gift Guide recommendation. Alan Wake is a game that plays like a psychological thriller as you take on the role of Alan, an author who seems trapped in his own tale. The game incorporates elements of an episodic television show as well, and is a nice escape from all the typical casual games and shooters out there. The Limited Collectors Edition includes:

  • Game Disc in box with unique art
  • Exclusive In-Game Audio Commentary and Hints by Remedy
  • “The Alan Wake Files” – a 144pg book that includes a short story written by Alan Wake and compiles the FBI dossiers investigating the events in Bright Falls
  • Exclusive Xbox bonus disc with special content:
  • Exclusive Xbox Theme & Avatar
  • PDLC #1 Token
  • Video Documentaries/Behind the Scenes:
  • The Theme of Alan Wake
  • The World of Bright Falls
  • The People of Bright Falls
  • Alan’s Missions
  • Exclusive Audio Disc with Soundtrack and Score

This set typically sells for $79.99, but Amazon has dropped the price substantially to just $29.99! That's an awesome price for a great game like this one - be sure to check out our Alan Wake review.

Apple's focused on the iPod touch as being the "funnest iPod ever" for a while now, but the introduction of the fourth generation model put it over the top. You've got the Retina display, FaceTime video chat, high definition video capture, and built-in gyroscope all packed into the thinnest iPod touch ever. Of course, you need great software running on hardware like this, and the App Store fits the bill with over 200,000 apps available. A great gift for teens who don't need an iPhone, or anyone who isn't on AT&T but still wants a mobile iOS device. Prices start at $229 (or $220 on Amazon):

kinect for xbox 360

Microsoft's been hyping up Kinect for over a year now, and the motion sensing Xbox peripheral has finally arrived. Our verdict? We love it, and it feels like the future. If you know anyone with an Xbox 360 console who doesn't have Kinect, then we'd recommend putting this one on your gift list. The Kinect sensor costs $149.99, and includes Kinect Adventures, a disc full of mini-games that let you try out a bunch of Kinect's features. You can also do video chat with other Kinect users and Windows Live users as well, and you get voice control over your Xbox 360. Seriously, this is the video game accessory to have this holiday season--especially during your holiday parties with friends and family around.

Aside from the sensor itself, here are a few Kinect games that we think are worth picking up as well:

Dance Central
Kinectimals
Your Shape Fitness Evolved

Of course, in order to take advantage of Kinect, you'll need an Xbox 360 console. If you don't already have one, Microsoft is selling consoles bundled with Kinect.

Zune HD

We must say, one device we were excited about this year was the , and as evidenced in our Zune HD review, Microsoft came through with a superb device with a fantastic service behind it to match. In fact, we’ve said it many time that, in our opinion, for someone that truly loves music, Zune is the best deal around. Coupled with the $15 per month Zune Pass (which isn’t a requirement,) you get a top-notch portable media player with an OLED screen, HD Radio, and web browser with the advantage of being able to listen to pretty much any song you can think of at a moments notice.

The Zune HD retails for $289 for the 32GB model, and $219 for the 16GB model - however, Amazon’s got a great sale on the Zune HD that’ll put the 32GB model into your hands for $269 ($21 off,) while the 16GB model will run you $189 ($30 off.)

Beats by Dr. Dre StudioWe’ve been big fans of the Beats by Dr. Dre Studio headphones since we first got our hands on them. They’ve got a nice style, with a hip-hop vibe, and a fantastic noise-canceling feature. The earcups are surprisingly comfortable, and fold away on the inner side of the glossy black headband, which can then be stored in the included case. The Beats by Dr. Dre studio headphones do requier two AAA batteries for the noise cancellation feature, and you’ll get about 50 hours of listening time on a pair of those. They also include two audio cables, both of which even fit into the original headset jack, and one of which also includes a mic, so you can take calls. The Monster Beats by Dr. Dre stereo headphones can be found on Amazon for $349.
