This seems to be a Japan exclusive, but who knows – maybe Sony will surprise us (April Fools!). Either way, this unit looks just awesome. The Gran Turismo logo in the corner does detract just a bit. However, with this one the headphones and strap match the PSP’s color.

The new Hitachi Deskstar 7K500 is as cutting edge as hard drives get. It tops out at 500GB - that’s one half a terabyte of information. It can interface with the PC via an older parallel ATA with an 8MB data buffer for $500, or with the 3-gigabits-per-second Serial ATA II interface with a 16MB buffer for $520. Not a bad cash to MB ratio. I remember the first “huge” drive I bought, over two hundred dollars for a paltry 4.3GB Maxtor. PCWorld says the capacity of the 7K500 top out at 1TB by late 2006 before they experience any technical problems with the integrity of the data.

For one of a number of possible reasons, the Sony Playstation Portable is just not selling out in the United States. Sony predicted they would sell 1 million PSP’s by or on launch date. They’ve sold roughly half a million since launch one week ago, and stores are not experiencing widespread shortages. Whatever the case, it’s an amazing piece of tech gadgetry, so go out and pick one up. They’re in stock. They’re shiny. You won’t be disappointed. We do not work for Sony.

This photo browser starts off with you entering a tag; it then shows you some pictures related to that tag, which you may click so that they will show up on the magnified side of the screen. Sony To Make Online Store For Portable Video

Sony is currently planning an iTunes-style store for movies. The store would feature Sony Pictures’ top 500 films, available in different formats. Sony wants be sure people are able to take their films where ever they want to take them – be it on their cell phones or their Playstation Portable. Currently, Sony is doing their homework – researching prices, technology, and security. However, they plan on launching the store some time next year. It will definitely be great to have a greater selection of films readily available for the PSP without having to jump through hoops converting the movies.

Basically, all you need to do is extend the leads, and you can put any enclosure around the internal circuit board. If you have a car with OnStar but don’t use the subscription, this one might be for you. If you can solder a serial cable, then you can jack into your GM OnStar system and run GPS diagnostic software or switch the thing to NMEA mode so you can use it with your very own GPS mapping software along with your in-car PC.
