In this episode I bring you my thoughts on the new Apple smartphone line, which now includes the iPhone 5s, as well as the lower-budget iPhone 5c. Apple announced both phones during its annual iPhone reveal event, and many are wondering which device they should purchase. Some even say that the iPhone 5c is a waste of time. I give you the rundown of features and specs of both new iPhone models, and give you my recommendations for which one you should pick up, and why.

Ever wonder what goes on behind the scenes at your favorite video game companies? For my August Ford #FiestaMovement Gaming mission, I visited Turn 10 Studios, maker of the Forza Motorspot racing games to get a look. I starred in a behind-the-scenes documentary that focuses on Turn 10 and the upcoming release of Forza Motorsport 5 for Xbox One, and in my mission video, I give you a look at that whole process.

You'll see me on set, cameras and microphones in my face. You'll see me in makeup, getting my head powdered. You'll also see me race again the best Forza Motorsport player at Turn 10 in a moving chair with 3 HD displays in front of me. Intense, right?

I also talk with Dan Greenwalt, the main man at Turn 10, about what makes a great Forza player, and I take Gabriel Garcia, the man in charge of building the in-game vehicles and making them look amazing, on a joy ride in the 2014 Ford Fiesta ST.

Reeder 2 RSS app

We loved Reeder for iOS and Mac, and the thoughtful RSS reading app was fantastic, right up until Google pulled the plug on Google Reader, a service that was essential to the usability of Reeder--at least on the Mac and iPad. Now, developer Silvio Rizzi is back with his second act: Reeder 2. Unlike the first version, Reeder 2 is a universal binary, which means that for the price of the app, you get both the iPhone and iPad versions included. The design language of Reeder 2 is updated to match the look and feel of iOS 7, and gone is the requirement and reliance on Google Reader. In its place, Reeder 2 now allows you to pull and sync data from Feedbin, Feedly, Feed Wrangler, Fever, and can even act as your RSS storage app in and of itself.

You can pick up Reeder 2 now for $4.99.

iPhone 5S DockiPhone 5C Dock

When Apple released the iPhone 5 last year, it did so without offering a dock. WIth the upcoming release of the iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c, it seems the company has learned from the error of its ways. When the two new Apple smartphones go on sale in ten days, Apple will be offering a Lightning-compatible dock for each, and in fact, they're already available to view in the Apple Store online:

Each dock will cost $29, and will be available on September 20th.

iPhone 5C case

The iPhone 5S isn't the only new smartphone getting a custom Apple case, as the company has also announced a multi-colored line of cases for its iPhone 5C. Unlike the leather iPhone 5S case, these are soft-feel silicon rubber cases with microfiber lining on the inside, making them easy to put on and take off of the iPhone 5C. They'll be available in all the iPhone 5C colors, too, those being green, blue, yellow, pink, and white, as well as an extra black color as well. As you can see in the image above, the cases are made in such a way that you can choose to match your 5C, or have a two-toned approach, letting the color of the 5C show through the circle cutouts on the back. You can pick up an iPhone 5C case for $29.

iPhone 5S leather case

Alongside the announcement of the iPhone 5S, Apple hit us with a leather case for the iPhone 5S as well. As you can see in the image above, the case covers the rear of your iPhone 5S, as well as the sides, all the way up through the chamfered edges. There's a hole on the back that allows your camera, microphone, and flash to operate as expected, and another on the side to give access to the mute switch. You can get them in brown, beige, black, yellow, blue, and (PRODUCT) RED. The iPhone 5S leather case sells for $39, and we wouldn't be surprised if it also fit on your current iPhone 5.

Free iWork and iLife apps

Apple has announced that it's iWork suite for iOS devices will be free with the purchase of a new device going forward as announced at this morning's iPhone 5S event. This means that Pages, Keynote, Numbers, iPhoto, and iMovie will all be downloadable for free to those who purchase a new iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch. To give you an idea of what you are saving, that is $39.95 worth of apps that Apple now gives new buyers for free to all iOS 7-compatible devices activated after September 1, 2013, including current devices, as well as the new iPhone 5C and iPhone 5S.
